Okay, I'm happy now. Happy as a clam. Talked to my advisor for an hour and a half and she said that though my GPA is mediocre, it wasn't as if I would get rejected because of just that and that my verbal GRE score was phenomenal and, even more exciting, my quantitative score was respectable (respectable quantitative means more to me than phenomenal verbal on account of I had to take both algebra and geometry twice and barely made it out of Algebra 2 my senior year). Also, my field school will help a lot. I still want to go to Duke the most, but we also talked about plenty of other programs like at Tulane, Penn State, Arizona State, etc, etc. I'm going to apply to as many schools as I can, like maybe 10. That's what credit cards are for.

Oh, and she also gave me names of people at all of these schools and which ones were nice and which ones were alssholes. Like, there's a man in Illinois who is a terrible jerk and harrasses his female students. I'm glad because if I have a choice I'd rather not work for a jerk. Arizona State is where Donald Johanson is (he found Lucy) and she said that that program is great, but he's hard to work with. Apparently if you're a female you have to flirt and bat your eyes at him and then he's nice to you. Or more. Batting my eyes makes my contacts fall out and "more" is out of the question.

I have been worrying about this for MONTHS, no, actually for years. But for the first time I feel like it might not be the end of the world.
