While the rest of the world is reporting on Ike, I will be keeping track of Munster. There seems to be a lot in of interesting/horrible things happening there nowadays.

www.webcastr.com/videos/news/munster-house-explosion-in-flood-zone.html Reporting: Dand Kozlov (csb2chicago.com ) MUNSTER, Ind. (CBS) ― A house exploded and caught on fire in Munster, Indiana Wednesday evening. Adding insult to injury it's right in a flood zone. There is knee deep water in the area, and that is making for an unusual scene for firefighters. It all happened in the 7900 block of Monroe Avenue in Munster, Indiana.
CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports that officials say it is a total loss. Witnesses say the blast shook the neighborhood.
"We were standing outside and all of a sudden there was an incredibly loud boom, and there was a huge fireball and there was debris like wood and roofing material flying everywhere," said Gunnar Carlson, witness.
That image terrified dozens of people in this Munster, Indiana subdivision.
For a few minutes, Carlson said no one knew what happened, but word quickly spread that a house in the mandatory evacuation area had blown up, severely damaging two adjacent homes and sending debris into six others.
"I really thought I was gonna hit the floor. I didn't know, I saw it but didn't know if something crashed into it," said Michelle Mack, witness.
Officials say no one was in the house. No one was hurt either.
But one man who lives on the block wants to know why, in these floods, the gas and power hadn't already been shut off.
"I'm about four houses away from the house that blew up, and my main question is why hasn't NIPSCO been here three, four days ago when this first happened to have the gas and lights shut off? I feel that house should've never blown up down there. All this could've been avoided," said James Flener, neighbor.
"You can't find the gas mains 'cause they're under five and six feet of water," said Thomas DeGiulio, Munster Town Manager. "It's a needle in a haystack kind of a thing."
Neighbors say a couple lived in that house with their two children and the town manager said gas may be the cause of this explosion, but that has yet to be positively determined.

So yes, this all happened right behind McDonalds, according to my dad. He said the blast shook the house. He even called my uncle in Griffith and my uncle felt it! Wow. @_@ BTW, I also have many more flood pics, thanks to the photographic talent of Aren F., a bud from high school. I'll post those later.
Heh, my world back home is falling apart and all I can do is hear of it. TT_TT
