...of the year that is.
Woke to the loud but lovely song of a male Carolina wren in the bushes outside my bedroom window. When he moved out to the yard there was the soft hooting of our local owl in the trees out back, which went abruptly silent as our golden eagle soared in. The squirrels are back out now, chittering at the dogs and scratching their little hidey-holes all over the yard.
Wed, with the holidays behind us, I shall track down a local handyman and get poor AJ's door installed. At 12, in a house filled with all females, he NEEDS that door. And I am certain that modicum of privacy will make for a more relaxed and happy boy as we claw our way into puberty. It was wonderful last night listening to him on the phone with his best friend (back in Ohio) gossiping, talking school, movies, and games, and giggling madly. AJ has the most delightful and infectious laugh.
Now to get some more housework started (the unending piles of boxes yet to be unpacked demand I find/salvage some bookcases somewhere! and Christmas must soon be packed away) so I have time to write. Adventure is out there! (oh wait...that would be Aedin watching Up! again, LOL)
