I've been meaning to write one of two entries I've had stuck in my head for a while now but I've just been so busy that it really hasn't happened. Anyway....
If I were to write a story about my time in cali thus far it would take forever to start from the beginning and list even only the most relevant stories. So I am simply going to list the characters and you can draw your own scenarios.
Me - I am sarcastic, quick witted, bad tempered, impatient, etc. I am the third person of a three man crew my opinion holds no weight and I am only asked to validate others already formed opinions. I am completely new at all of this and never have been trained. My motives here started for the good of the company and the experience. But now I am slowly turning inward. If it wasn't for the money and the ability to simplify my life to the basest level. I wouldn't be here. There is also a romantic interest with someone who lives in cali
Josh - complex and simple. Josh is arrogant to an extreme and yet completely self conscious. Here are three stories involving him to help you understand more about him. He was a car salesman for a few months and I asked him what he wanted to do with his life and his response "I wanna be the guy in the suit that collects the money, I was made for suits, they just feel right." He makes a rediculous amount of money for doing almost nothing and allhis stories involve him being amazing and his golden era as a salesman. Story two; if joshs grandpa says we are in a rush, he will refuse to eat. I have missed countless meals over stupid jobs that were not a priority. Last story; "josh what are you watching?" "womens soccer, I thought it was mens but I noticed they play like they are underwater" "josh, guarenteed the worst woman player in the league is faster than you.". "Only cuz I am not in shape give me two months" -side note. Josh is 5'10" 265lbs and 21 yrs old. He put on probably 70 pounds in the past year his entire body is covered in stretchmarks. He is the only person I can really hang with ans the only person with a car. Most of the time we get along and fights are forgotten quickly
The grandpa aka my boss -
Mid fifties. Very hard worker. He has little people sense butr is very intelligent. He abores technology and can not comprehend anything made after the early 90's. He falls asleep while driving runs stopsigns and gets pulled over constantly. He and I clash a lot. He bought a 50,000 dollar piece of equipment. He has yet to properly run the setup routines. He constantly lies about measurements to save time and help others out. He is of the opinion that if he says the sky is green you agree because he signs the checks. He never pays on time, currently I am supposed to get two checks every friday. He is three weeks behind (six checks, over 3500 dollars) he is good for it but unorganized and I suffer and work crazy hours when he falls behind. I will never advance or be promoted because josh will be given everything first.
Mojave desert- yes the landscape is a character. The past four days most major roads and highways were shutdown due to dust storms. Avg 50 mph winds. Avg temps over the summer were in the 90-130 range. I walk an avg of seven miles a day. I counted. I usually have a 50 lb backpack of equipment while trying to use sensitive equipment in the heat and wind getting bad results because my coworkers don't care.
Anyway there was a lot more to say but my thumbs are tired and I typo too much on the blackberry. Ill keep you posted with good stories soon
