new textbooks! new notebooks! new G2 gel pens! a new term begins this week!
FGCU is so loverly
(done)
That "love that mammy mammy song" thing reminds me - I want to read Once & Future King - the first part (about Wart) to the kids. It's been so long since I read that I have forgotten exactly how that ant song goes, except for the "done" part. The book I have is pretty worn out (decayed & frayed & held together with yellowed scotch tape). They can read the rest of it when they are older.
Caroline has been looking up stuff in our ancient set of encyclopedias. Doing great at reading at home, merely above average at school because they have to take a computer test on every book they read. Everything focused toward FCAT. Good thing she still wants to read for pleasure in spite of her reading experience at school.
Caroline had to go to her room for a little while this morning - she did a classic 13-year-old eye-roll while saying "I AM being respectful"!! I almost laughed but managed to control myself.
There is a little pile of (mostly homemade) mother's day gifts waiting for tomorrow. We decided just to stay home and have a no-cooking, all-playing day.
Steffi just brought me a basket with a tiny baby doll inside and shushed me because the baby is sleeping. She is such a tender mom.
The only doll that suffers in this house is Woody -- he is always making bad choices and having to "think about it." He has faced some rather severe punishment, usually involving being tied up for days at a time. Most recently he had to stay outside on the porch for two weeks for being mean. That this 2 weeks coincided with the time between the girls' visitation to Miami was not lost to me! I have never gotten involved with the Woody thing -- I figure it is their way of working it out. They are ok with their other male dolls - Ken and Madeline's little male friend are treated nicely. It's just this ONE guy they have a problem with!
