Oh Bloc Party. I have them cranked up so loud right now. I'm dancing in my seat and in the hallway because I'm home alone. "We're gonna win this!!" That's what I need to hear right now. I love dance rock. That's what I decided to call Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, and Franz Ferdinand.
This day sucked. I got a B- on my first English paper. Prof. Schmidt didn't understand my essay at all and thought the two stories didn't connect. Ah! It seemed so clear in my mind that they did connect and I thought I wrote the essay in a new and interesting way. Guess not. Next paper is due on Tuesday and it's a persuasive essay. I like those. I hope I'll get a better grade on that one. Or I'm really going to feel like shit. I already feel inadequate since he's published over 35 books and since most people in my class are English majors. Bah!
I hate money, too. And the confusion it arouses.
Joe, my neighbor, stopped by to see if we needed anything from the store since he was going there. I love that kid. I hope I get to know him better. I think we might go see "Paradise Now" together this weekend, maybe. I watched that movie last night in Terrorism class. Cassi, you need to see it if you haven't. Along with all the reading I've been doing about terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, this movie also really opened my mind and eyes to the plight of the Palestinians. They have no voice, no hope, no way to fight back. It's a brilliant movie. I wish I knew Arabic. A girl in my class, whose parents are from Jordan, knows Arabic.
I've almost been up here for a month. Crazy. Speeding through time.
Things in the apartment are going pretty well. Kim's got on my nerves a bit but that'll pass.
I'm going to be very busy the next two weeks. Papers, midterm take home, cultural discerner article. Bah!
BUT...Katie is coming up here Oct. 13-15th. I'm very excited. We're going to go visit our friends Emily and Ashley in Kalamazoo, which makes me so happy. They are such cool girls and I really want to reconnect with them better. Then Katie is just going to hang around here, watch hockey, and hang out with some of her friends who still go to Calvin. We will also hang out with Harry Winters. Katie is living with his family while she goes to Kent State. She actually sleeps in his room. Haha. They're such a funny family.
"Are you hoping for a miracle?" Man, I would love to see these guys in concert.
Martha was supposed to meet me online at 6. She never showed. Silly punk.
I have to go to work soon. Our RA from last year, Schip, is having a birthday party tonight at a restaurant. I kind of want to go but I need a ride there. I wonder if Kim and Erin and Lindsey will want to go. I'll have to wait until they get back from their respective destinations.
I'm going to post on this thing more. It'll help me feel better and think things through. And now I won't be so dang far away and quiet. Miss you guys. Thanks for all your concern too.
