Against his better judgment, she was sleeping and heard the sound of the knocking. At first she groaned gently, but her stomach twisted in an effort to force her into waking up. Pressing her hands against the bed, she lifted herself off the bed and moved out and placed her tanktop back on. Leaning down, she grabbed her pyjama pants and pulled them up and walked in the direction of the door.

She really didn't know what to expect and hadn't even seen him since she gave him the love potion, she felt the need to avoid him somewhat after that. Twisting the handle, she opened her eyes and shook her head,"...Cedric?" She said strangely, having been partially asleep when she arrived at the door, she didn't have the mind power to calculate fear and anxiety yet.

Cedric smiled. He took in her slightly disshelved appearance and immediately felt even more guilty. "Hello, Merope," he greeted her with a smile. "Did I wake you? I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come by so late..."

He swifted his feet awkwardly. "If you want," he said, "I can come back tomorrow. During the day or something. I shouldn't have come by so late." He shook his head, mainly at himself for his lack of consideration. of course she'd be a sleep. Unlike him, she probably wasn't plagued with insomnia. Even with a sleeping Mariette in his bed, he still couldn't sleep well. He just chalked it up to the town and being alive again. He had left Marietta sleeping sounding and came to see his friend. "I'm sorry," he said again, genuinely.

Merope ruffled her hand in her black hair, so it rested a little flatter instead of crazy,"Mhm..don't be sorry, you didn't do anything wrong. You can come in..." She leaned her lazy body against the door for a moment, closing her eyes as she waited for him to pass by her. Whenever he was inside, she turned the light on and walked into the kitchen, opening cabinets until she found a pot and filled it with water. After a moment, she set it on the stove and went back to her couch, leaned down and rested back,"....Why come over so late? I'm sure you have alot of stuf you'd rather be doing.." She sighed.

"Thank you." Cedric entered her home, glad to see that the furniture had arrived that she had purchased when he went shopping with her.

He looked over her at her when she spoke again. "Actually, I'm often plagued with insomnia, so I don't have other stuff to doing including sleeping. Like I seem to be keep you from," he added the last bit with guilt dripping from his tone. He tried to contain it, but he couldn't. Here he was waking Merope up. It was rude. But at least she was being polite and taking it in stride. "Sorry," he mumbled, "I guess you can say I like the night." He shrugged.

Clearing his throat quickly, he surged on, "So how have you been? Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. I've had my two-week stint working and all."

Her mind floated away, wanting to curl up in her bed and continue sleep. It wasn't going to happen and she didn't want to complain, she didn't even bother to frown when she spoke,"It's alright, Cedric. I'm fine, I work and come home. I don't do much else," Very true, she had no social life and didn't appear to care that anyone even bothered to visit her. Frankly, she grew tired of getting attached and being forcibly removed, she figured it was easier to just be alone.

Blinking her eyes a few times, focusing on him,"Don't worry, I don't expect you to come and see me, I hope work wasn't hard on you."

"What? I wanted to come and see you," he said, slightly offended by her flippancy. It wasn't that it was unheard of, but he still didn't like her attitude that she wasn't important. She deserved a friend to visit her at least. He forced the frown from his face, and shrugged again. "Work was work. Not hard, not easy." He smiled slightly, trying to lightened the mood. "How about you? How is work?"

He gestured to a seat. "Can I sit down?"

It'd been a long time since anyone visited her, more than a month and before that even longer. She convinced herself that everyone just had their own lives, did their own thing and wasn't particularly interested in anything she had to say. She wasn't a happy, jumpy person like most in town and couldn't be. For the moment she was sucked into her own world until he intupted her by saying something.

"You don't have to say that," Merope wanted to say more, but didn't on the subject. As he moved closer to her, she backed away and into the couch so her knees were against her chest, head perched on her kneecaps,"I plant and stock...not hard, I come home.."

"I don't have to say that, but it's the truth," he stated clearly. He sat down opposite of her, giving her enough space he hoped. The way she was currently sitting down him that she didn't want him to be near her, and taht was just fine. Not that he had a problem with being close to her - just that she could have as much space as she needed.

"Well, as long as you like the work you do, that's all that matters," he said, smiling at her softly. It was true. "if you hated it, then what would be the point, you know?"

Of course, she didn't believe him at all. She got considerably closer, but not as she would have before. Merope figured out that he did not feel for her the way she felt for him, he was not the same and that was fine, she expected it,"I'm only working because it was part of the agreement I made to the twins. I wish I would have never done that, I should have stayed where I was.." She moved her hand to rub her face, arousing her senses to the soft blow of the teapot.

She got up quickly, walked over to the pot and started pouring the tea in. When she was finished she brought it over and served him first, then herself.

He looked at her closely. But not too closely. "Where were you? I mean, where do you wish you had stayed?"

He waited for her to pour the tea before she answered. It was such a nice, hospitable gesture. At least it showed she didn't want him to leave too soon. He took his cup and too a sip. It was warm and good. "Delicious," he murmured absently.

"Oh, I was living outside." She said half-heartedly, seeming unaffected by the idea. "I met George back at the square festival in December, they told me I could come live in an apartment by myself." Merope clamed up after that, she didn't like talking about the Weasley boys, it brought a little bit of sorrow to think of how they used to care.

"..I drugged you the last time you were here, I wanted to see if you liked me, but you don't. Not in the way I want." She put her hand up,"...You have every right to hate me." She cleared her throat.

"That was nice of George," Cedric mused, still unsure. She had lived outside. Alone. In an unknown town. The thought didn't sit well with him, and Cedric was glad the kind Weasley twins had found her and given her a place to stay.

Cedric blinked. "Well, I don't hate you. I mean, I don't like the fact that you drugged me. In fact, I hate the idea of being drugged, but I don't hate you." He knew what had happened hadn't set in yet. Maybe it wouldn't for awhile. "But... well, can I ask why? I mean, if I was under some... potion's influence, then it wouldn't show if I really like you to begin with."

He blinked again. Where had that come from? The idea of being drugged - something substance unknown - make him sick to his stomach. She looked so nonchalent about it, too, and that angered him. But he tried to school his features into something nothing - just a blank canvas ( ... )

Merope set there, nervously, watching him looking probably annoyed with her. When he said something that compromised her thoughts, she frowned,"I didn't think you would like me either way...I wanted to see what it would be like if you did like me...I guess...I don't know...--it was safe for me.--" She paused, waited for him to speak as she fiddled with her fingers nervously, starting to squirm in her cushion as she waited.

Merope's non nonchalant look had disappeared and she seemed more awake now, worrying all over again,"...I don't want to s..s..say...you might ..." She frowned, but everyone knew she was a push over anyway.

Cedric sighed. "Drugging me is not a way to endear yourself to be either way," he replied somewhat coldly. Sighing heavily, he leaned back in his seat. "I'm sorry," he said, closing his eyes as he thought. "It's just... a surprise."

Now he understand a bit more about his actions the night they went shopping. He had been so attracted to her, and it was different than it had been before. He had been infacuated with her, and it had come on so suddenly that Cedric couldn't help but act on it. So, she had drugged him with a love potion it seemed. The thought was sickening. But her now nervous sqirming and energy made him soften his tone as he spoke again ( ... )

Merope's heart started to pound, she was acting normally but more stressed than usual. Anything he was saying went right through her, she knew that he didn't mean it. She pulled herself away from him, her legs on the ground, arms tight to her sides and head down as he spoke in a way that hurt her feelings, but it was well deserved.

"Don't, you will just be unhappy when you do, you'll always think about this. It's alright, you just don't want to feel like you have to be. I'm a horrible person.." Merope lowered her head, shut her eyes and waited for him to leave. In her behavior of extremely guilt, nerves or fright, she didn't do much moving at all.

Cedric sighed. "I'll be back," he repeated, his warm tone back. "I just need some time to... think about this. I don't hate you. And seeing that I don't hate you, there's no reason for me not to come back ( ... )
