The Entity knew it needed to release Macnair soon even if it was against Tonks' wishes but the man was critical in his plans to bring an end to Voldemort's hand. It had already visited the buffoon on several occasions, administering the spells it needed to effectively mute the mortal's rabid need for women and hopefully curb the man's anger. Macnair needed to keep a cool head if he was going to be effective in his mission and it understood that taking away the man's sex drive was a step in that direction. It figured that Macnair would have one chance to prove himself and ingratiate himself with the Hand's leader before reporting back to the Entity with his identity ( ... )

Macnair glared at the man. His eyes masked any relief at seeing Weaver again. The creature was all power. Macnair, of course, didn't know the extent of its power for sure, but at the same time, he could feel it echoing off the walls whenever it approached. Macnair relished in the power. If he played his cards right, he was sure he could become powerful in his town just be association. Riding on the coattails of the strong and powerful was what Macnair thrived for. He didn't have to powerful if the person he was falling was. Lord Voldemort was first, and now it will be this creature, this Weaver. He was sure that he could convince Weaver to trust him, to see his loyalty for what it was, and use him for its own purposes ( ... )

The man was still a belligerent arsehole but the Entity understood that the best way to handle someone with the intellect of a child was to not let them see that their behavior was at any point acknowledged. Of course, that was until the son of a bitch began to snap and yap, then harsher measures needed to be taken and the dog had to be whacked across the nose. It was a sad state of affairs that the Entity had to work with mortals like this but it was its place in this world and it would make the best of it ( ... )

Macnair weighed his options in a flash, feeling impotent. He wasn't used to having to make such quick decision. His plans either fell directly from Lord Voldemort or, most recent, something that took a few weeks to make certain it was carried through. But the options was very clear, and it only took Macnair a moment to decide in his state of half-insanity. It was truly belittling and humbling to be kept in a cell for a month alone. Restless did not begin to describe how Macnair felt. Weaver was offering him a chance, even if it was small, to be free with conditions. Conditions, of course. Sarcastically, Macnair thought, I can't wait to hear those conditions. He lowered his gaze in an offer of submissiveness and mumbled, "I'm sorry. What do you need Mr. Weaver ( ... )

While Astoria had been working some more on her paint job in her loft, she had received a message from Weaver. Apparently, her report and her presence was required at the mansion. She didn't really want to risk being late, even if he hadn't set a time, so she simply dropped her paint brush into the can and got up. Quickly changing into a clean shirt and pair of jeans, she grabbed her report on Voldemort's hand off the bedside table and headed for the door, calling out "Back later" to Blaise ( ... )

"Welcome, Ms. Greengrass." The Entity smiled, though it didn't deign it important enough to turn around and face her. "Don't dawdle. I don't have all day to stand here waiting for you." It gestured toward Astoria for her to enter, not wanting to stretch out this meeting for too long. The Entity didn't know how well these two would work together but this relationship was vital if it was going to rid itself of the nuisance that was Voldemort's Hand.

"Make yourself comfortable." It gestured once more and three chairs and a table appeared before a tea service settled upon the surface. The Entity moved over toward it and then sat before either of them. It began to serve itself, taking a cup and saucer, then pouring some tea, letting it steam for a moment before adding two lumps of sugar. Afterward, it picked up a spoon and began to stir its drink before it said, "You two sit down and introduce yourselves, so we can discuss what is going to happen now."

At Weaver's gesture, Astoria entered the dungeon cell, the report still in her arms. She looked over at the man Weaver had been talking to. It didn't take long for her to recognise him. Walden Macnair, known Death Eater - dead Death Eater, she corrected herself - and former employee at the Ministry of Magic. Of course, his face was only familiar from photographs she had seen in the Daily Prophet. She didn't exactly feel at ease with him present, but she refrained from showing it. Instead, her gaze swept back to Weaver and walked over to the chairs as Weaver had already sat himself down.

Astoria guessed he would be the one escorting her, as she had been called to the mansion with her finished report. Placing the report on the table, she poured herself a cup of tea, her eyes drifting back to where Macnair was still standing. "I know him." She simply said. "Walden Macnair."

Macnair didn't move to sit down at first. His eyes swept over the girl quickly. Ms. Greengrass she was called. "Hello," he said in a curt crisp voice. She knew him; he didn't know her. It wasn't a good sign if you asked him ( ... )
