Katie yawned and rolled over in her warm bed. She glanced at the clock and closed her eyes and groaned. It took all her willpower to get herself out of bed this morning. Bludger huffed when she accidentally stepped on him as she clamored out of bed. Being pregnant was exhausting and she didn't think it was going to get any easier ( ... )

Lying in the bed she shared with Oliver, Alicia looked up into the clear blue sky above her, through the skylight, when she woke up. She felt as if she had just woken from a dream. A good dream, but a dream nonetheless. Only… it hadn’t been a dream, and the Healer’s words were still ringing in her ears. It didn’t make sense, even less so the calculations. Carefully she tried to feel how she was doing, focusing on her stomach, but nope; there was no nausea at all. That didn’t make sense either, because… wasn’t that what pregnant women always talked about? How they couldn’t keep anything down, or how morning sickness pretty much was there all day, all the time ( ... )

Katie was staring at the wall across from her lost in thought and sipping on her cold water; so she didn't notice when Aliica had come up next to her. She started, sloshing some of her water over her hand. Her hormones had her on edge and she hated feeling like a watering pot.

Her friend's concern touched her and Katie felt a lump form in her throat and she tried desperately to push it down. She gave Alicia a watery smile.

"I'm fine," she said. "Just tired." Alicia looked great. She had a lovely glow about her. "How are you?"

Alicia winced when she saw how Katie startled and sloshed her water. Her attention had been brought to her friend’s hands for just a moment, though long enough for her to notice the bright ring on her finger, making her wonder just how long it had really been since they had last seen each other. She felt bad that she hadn’t noticed it on the evening that she had had Katie and Angelina over for dinner.

She quirked an eyebrow as she looked back up at Katie’s face, and her reluctance in actually believing Katie’s statement only grew when she saw the wan smile on her lips. “Oh, I’m fine,” she said, which she was. She was fine, all fine, peachy-keen, really, never better. Though, she still reached out and took Katie’s hand. “Just tired, eh?” With a nod of her head she gestured to a seat out by the wall. “You were staring at the wall, Katie. Want to go sit down for a moment?”

Katie absently waved her wand at the small puddle of water, sucking it up with her wand. She caught Alicia looking at her engagement ring. She’d been wearing it out and public more and more but since she wasn’t going out all that much, well, no one really knew. It was probably about time for them to start telling people. They planned on telling his family soon but, since Fred knew, Katie thought it would be nice to have one of her friends to confide in.

Her eyes rested on the platinum band with its sparkling diamonds. She loved this ring. The bright blue sapphire seemed endless as the ocean and she could swear that she could see the waves cresting in that ring. “That’s nice,” she said, yawning. She sat down, sighing in relief before stifling a yawn. “We haven’t told anyone yet, other then Fred and Arthur,” she said, absently playing with her ring. “It happened so fast.” She tucked her legs up under her. “March 20th in fact.”

Katie’s yawning was… impressive, to say the least. It made Alicia yearn to yawn as well, despite her not being tired at all. Not only that, it seemed to continue once Katie was sitting down. Alicia sat down next to her and drew up her leg as she rested her shoulder against the wall and face Katie. “Careful or your jaws’ll unhinge,” she teased gently, before she sighed, partly dreamily, partly concerned.

“March twentieth?” she repeated before she sent Katie a warm smile. “I’m happy for you, Bells, though how you’ve managed to keep it quiet…” With a soft chuckle she shrugged and shook her head. “I’ve no idea how you did it. I mean… you’ve seen me. You and Ang were barely through the door and I couldn’t keep it a secret anymore.” It was true what Katie had said that it had happened fast, yet still, with what she remembered from the girly night Katie had called after things had heated up with George, it somehow didn’t come at all as a surprise.

"I'm sorry," she said, stifling another yawn. "I've been a bit worn out." She leaned her head back against the wall and closed her eyes. She smiled and murmured her thanks. "I'm not sure," she said, opening her eyes. "We just, well we haven't told his mother yet and I guess I didn't want it to get around...I mean, I haven't even met her really and it's been so fast."

She shrugged. "She'll probably hate me." Especially after she finds out about me being pregnant she thought. "I think we'll be telling them sometime this coming week."

Idly rubbing her legs, she pulled them up and rested her chin on her knees. "Have you made anymore plans for the wedding?"

Alicia’s eyebrows knitted together. Katie wasn’t usually this uncertain about herself, or her future family for that matter. Of course, Alicia had pretty much grown up with her mother-in-law-to-be as a second mum, so she already knew her, while Molly Weasley had pretty much only been one they had heard about, rather than actually met…

“If Molly Weasley has just the slightest hint of sense in her, she’ll love you,” Alicia tried by expressing her honest feeling about this. “Why would she hate you?” She looked to where George was standing, seemingly explaining something that looked rather sneaky. “Look at him now, and then think about what he looked like before you two finally smartened up and realized what was going on ( ... )

Katie couldn't help but smile and feel warm at Alicia's determined confidence in her. "I don't know. I suppose I'm just a bit nervous about the whole thing." She shrugged. "I just, I never thought I'd be in the situation where I'd be meeting the family."

Impulsively, Katie leaned over and hugged Alicia. "I'm quite happy for you." And she was. Alicia and Oliver deserved happiness. They'd both been through so much and Katie was sure that they'd be able to workout anything that came their way.

She sighed. "I hope Mrs. Weasley doesn't want us to have a big wedding." Well, if Molly found out she was pregnant, she was sure there wouldn't be anytime to plan a wedding.

Katie’s hug surprised Alicia. She hadn’t expected it at all, and for a moment it made her blush and stuttered; “Th-thank you, I’m happy for you, too” before she hugged her back.

“I hope that Mrs. Weasley will like you right from the start,” she said and gave Katie’s shoulder a squeeze before she let go of her completely. “And if a small wedding is what you want, then that’s what you should have. Of course, I can mention at least two witches who’d be more than happy to be there, but… it’s your choice, Bells.”

Katie smiled. "My mum used to tell me that what you thought was your wedding, was, in fact, the mother's wedding." She shrugged. "Of course Mrs. Weasley has gone through two already."

Yawning again, Katie took a sip of her water and rested her head against the wall. "Of course you and Ang will be there," she said tiredly. "You're my family."

Katie’s tiredness really worried Alicia now. She had never seen her like this, except when she had been down with the flu or cold back at Hogwarts. “Then as your family, Ang and I will back you up so you get the wedding you want,” she stated as she reached out and touched the back of her hand to Katie’s forehead. Okay, she wasn’t running a fever, which was good. Maybe she and George had just not gotten enough sleep last night. It happened, she knew that, and could now better relax ( ... )

Katie couldn't help but smile at Alicia's mothering. "I'm not sick," she said, opening her eyes. She squeezed Alicia's hand, silently thanking her for her unerring support and love. It was comforting to know that there were people who understood. "Just tired..."

She felt Alicia sort of tense up and glanced over to see her friend staring straight at the wall. Her initial reaction to Alicia's announcement was stunned disbelief. Somehow, their lives had suddenly begun to mirror one another. "It must be catching," she murmured, staring at her feet. "I suppose Ang wouldn't try to curse two pregnant friends..."

Two pregnant friends… Alicia stopped breathing for just a moment as Katie’s words made sense. A short laugh escaped her. No wonder Katie was looking worse for wear then. Katie, no doubt, was pregnant the real way, and in three months’ time she would be showing like a real pregnant girl did at that point. Another chuckle escaped her and soon she was laughing for real, feeling more relieved and relaxed than she had since around this time yesterday, when she had simply sat down for a spicy chicken sandwich and had ended up finding out her life was about to change. “No… two pregnant friends would be too many for her to curse at once,” she agreed and nodded before she turned her head to look at Katie.

“Really?” she asked with a bright grin. “You too, for real?”

Her laugh was infectious and Katie smiled. "About as real as it gets. About twelve weeks along and starting to show." She shrugged. "Twins."

She glanced towards George. "What else would I have expected from one of them." Katie's eyes were worried and she gnawed on her bottom lip. "I haven't told George yet, that it's twins I mean. Somehow, it just seems surreal."

Sighing, she placed a hand on the small bump. "I'm hoping the second trimester is better then this one has been." She stifled another yawn. "Is Oliver excited?"

”Twins?” Alicia had to struggle really hard not to sigh with relief. It wasn’t until now that she thought about that point to this. The Healer had only seen one, but now that she thought about it, with her having a set of twins for brothers, as well as her mum and her mum both being twins, she should have considered that. Thankfully now she didn’t have to worry about that, and she wasn’t certain how she would have dealt with that. “Of course it’s twins,” she stated sympathetically, “they don’t do anything half, either of them, do they?”

Unconsciously she mirrored Katie’s movement and put her hand on her still flat, now just a bit softer, tummy. “Oliver’s… still baffled, but happy, I think,” she said honestly, “we only just found out, as in… yesterday.” She grew quiet again. Katie apparently had taken all the hardships of pregnancy compared to her. “So… can’t really tell you if second trimester is easier than the first.” She glanced over at Katie. “Fourteen weeks, so I missed the entire first trimester.”
