Bandom! My new Fandom! .... but with bands.
I have been a little absent from the SGA fandom lately... I still haven't seen The Seer and Millers Crossing yet, and I am very ashamed at myself.
But! I have an excuse, honest! See, back in March, I went down to Brisbane and saw Fall Out Boy in concert. And it was great, and the music was good, and I had an awesome time. BUT - I wouldn't have been able to tell you any of their names or anything. I knew a few of their songs, and liked them a lot, but that was about the extent of my knowledge of them. And then about 3 or 4 weeks ago - I don't know. It was like something snapped inside me. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with this need to know all about them, and all their songs not just the singles, and GAH. I don't even know where it came from!! Fall Out Boy is awesome though, seriously. We've got Andy Hurley on drums and percussion, Joe Trohman on lead guitar, Pete Wentz on bass and backing vocals, and Patrick Stump on guitar and lead vocals. I will say this now, and possibly (probably) forever more: OMG I LOVE PATRICK STUMP. Like, so much, you guys. I found this picspam of Patrick at shrift's LJ, and just YES. YESYESYES. (Note, very very picture heavy, so probably not good for dial up.)
And with this loooooove of all things Patrick, comes the fic. Oh yes. You know I can't resist it. Enter: RPF (Real Person Fic, or, in my case, RPS - Real Person Slash.) Yes, this shiny and new (to me) fandom I have stumbled upon has an AMAZING amount of very, very, god-so-good-it's-gotta-be-bad fic. I will admit to being a bit hesitant at first - it's one thing to read about a fictional character, it's a little different when they're a real person. However, I got over that hesitation quick smart when I discovered the deliciousness of Pete/Patrick. What, like you weren't expecting that? Do you know me?? Seriously, the hotness. It burns. *fans self* I found this post on lierdumoa's LJ about Pete/Patrick fic. Warning: May contain gay, gay, whimsy.
But a part of being a fan of one band is rubbing shoulders with all the bands they're friends with. In this case, My Chemical Romance (who I like ok, but I think it'll take a bit more before I buy their CD), Panic! At The Disco (who I like a lot already, and plan on now getting the CD), the All American Rejects (who I LOVE already, and have had the CD for ages now), the Gym Class Heroes (who, though I don't really like hip hop/rap as such, actually had their latest album produced by Patrick, and so they're just that little bit more awesome now because of it), The Academy Is... (who are AWESOME, and William Beckett, the lead singer, is SO HOT, and I bought both their albums today), and my favourite new-band-I'm-listening-to, Cobra Starship (who are FANTASTIC, and their music just makes me want to DANCE, and it doesn't hurt that their lead singer Gabe Saporta is quite the hottie, either. I bought both their albums today as well.)
Wow. That took a long time to put together. But it was sooo worth it. :D
In conclusion, I am still in the SGA fandom, I don't think I could ever leave, but my attention will be stretched a little, that's all I'm saying. So expect a few less posts about RodneyandJohn, and a few more about PeteandPatrick, but don't try and pick favourites! That's not what it's about. It's about sharing the love, people, the love.
And WOW am I tired. I have no idea what is coming out of my mouth. I'm going to sleeeeeeep now. :D
