So, I am still alive. I can not believe it's been two weeks since I last posted! That is unheard of. Needless to say, I've been super busy. lol.
I have not been so far removed that I missed Jensen and Danneel's engagement. I don't think it will come as a surprise to anyone that I am thrilled for them both and wish them all the happiness in the world.
First there's this thing called La Boheme that I've been involved with. Which has been (and continues to be) such a wonderful experience. I am just thrilled to be working with the group of singers and production staff that I am and it's really just been wonderful. The week of tech rehearsals and dress rehearsals was of course very taxing and time consuming. I was able to sit in on many of the lighting cue writing sessions and just watching the lighting designer and director work was so interesting. And they both welcomed questions from me which was wonderful as well. The final dress was a little hairy as one singer jumped TWO whole pages but the conductor rallied and got the orchestra up to speed and the other singer on stage jumped with him and after a mad dash over head set everyone was caught up and we didn't stop at all. \0/ Woot. It did rattle people though and there were a few other slight little bobbles but we got that out of the way on the final dress and then opening night was SO GOOD!!!
Which leads nicely into my undergrad college roommate made a last minute decision to come out and see me and join me on opening night. We have not seen each other in over a year which is just beyond WRONG and it was SO amazing to see her and catch up and of course it's like no time at all has passed. You know how there are just those few people you immediately connect with and instantly have inside jokes with and even though you live together you still want to just spend time with them all the time? That's what we are like. She's family and bff and life's just so much better when she's around. So she of course arrived on Thrusday (the day of final dress) but luckily she arrived at the only time I had free time to pick her up. Friday was spent at school for the most part and Jen got to watch me directing some of my singers for my Figaro scene which was cool. And then that evening we had
soylahtayplease over for dinner and drinks and lovely company and Big Bang Theory watching. Jen is getting her Phd in math at Cornell and actually IS sort of a crazy genius (but more socially adept) and is around guys like that all the time and she had never seen it! We remedied that of course! (Thank you Wendy! Yes I still have your season one dvds *g*).
And then saturday Jen and I went to the Live HD met broadcast of Turandot which was visually stunning but there were some problems with the feed on the met's side. And then we got fancied up and went to Boheme! After there was a big gala dinner and dancing on the stage after with free drinks for all. Awesome! And then she left and the world cried. *g*
Also yesterday I made the most amazing and easy chicken dish in the world! omg. Seriously, my mouth waters every time I think about it! I cooked up some coos-coos to serve with it and made a little salad and amazing. Here's the recipe.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Serves four
1tsp ground cinnamon
1tsp ground coriander
½ tsp ground turmeric
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
¼ tsp ground cardamom
¼ tsp ground cumin
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 whole chicken (4 lbs), quartered, skin on - I just used boneless breasts.
1 lemon, quartered
1. Place a rimed baking sheet on the center rack of oven, and preheat oven to 450.
Mix spices, 2 tsp salt, ¾ tsp pepper and the oil in a small bowl. Rub spice paste all over chicken
2. Carefully arrange chicken in a single layer on hot sheet, and arrange lemon wedges around chicken.
3. Bake chicken for about 30 - 35 minutes, let it stand for 10 minutes. Season with salt-n-pepper and serve with pan juices and roasted lemon wedges.
Lastly - omg...so I was not aware of the poluamory Big Bang that was going on until I saw someone post about it the other day. And I did some digging and bookmarked a ton to read. It's multi-fandom and sort of awesome. But the one I did read was amazing! And NOT spn or cw rps but actually Merlin fic. It was brilliant.
An ever-fixed mark by
imperfectcircle. It's Merlin/Arthur/Morgana/Gwen and set in a Ursula le Guin world but you don't need to have an experience with the book to completely enjoy this. (I certainly haven't). It's a really interesting read and I loved all the different relationships within the foursome.
And now I must dash to class! More later!
