12th Night was fun. Kind of a blur, but fun. I got a little cranky saturday morning because my schedule was so full & I was nervous about having to find TRM's room (in a different hotel) and try to manage getting them dressed. Fortunately secretsquire came along & helped herd. Digging through someone else's suitcase makes me uncomfortable! But we found all the pieces eventually & they looked great. Her Majesty even wore the whole wimple & veil setup for her morning meeting, & looked super cute!
Best of all, they knew they looked good & it showed.
Missed the Eq meeting as it was at the same time as the dressing, but it sounds like it was pretty uneventful- such an improvement from last year! Nice not to be told what my intentions are by someone who's never talked to me...
Missed the Artisan's Tea for the most part too, but I imagine that there will be another.
Had a good time peanut-gallery-ing in the back of court with ornerie & fearga & the bezant captain feeling smug about our accomplishments, then was able to unwind.
Unfortunately, both court & my dinner ran late, so fellow apprentice & I didn't get to take ornerie her dinner in a very timely manner. Felt bad for all the peers loitering in the hallway. How tedious. One of her roomies had a good idea for outdoor events- run a colored flag up to show which peerage is meeting, so they don't all have to stay so close while waiting.
Staying sunday night was great- I was able to sleep as long as I needed sunday am, then get up & wander down to the rapier tournament & watch fellow apprentice do really really well, instead of madly packing & checking out & missing the whole thing like I usually do. Then we all had a leisurely afternoon, watched the sunset from the beach & stayed up late, ending with adorable husband & I checking out the Madrone party where a long but interesting conversation was occurring.
Monday after a yummy breakfast walked on the beach a little (it was cold!) & headed home, where it was still snowy.
Adorable husband had to teach dance class & I was sleepy, so I stayed home and started on some items for Estrella! Feeling very productive about that. I cut out a lining & wool layer for two overdresses, wool & lining for a cozy warm greenland-style coat, and a pair of wool chausses for DH. I'm hoping to keep the momentum going & get some things done from the I've-been-meaning-to pile.
