Y'know that saying about lightning, and how it never strikes twice? Total bullshit, because the gassy construction worker from yesterday just ripped out ANOTHER grade-A belch. I AM NOT KIDDING. I seriously love this dude.
I also seriously love Anderson Cooper, because last night he played with PUPPIES. Anderson + puppies = exploding ovaries. GAAAH. Plus, he flirted with Jon Stewart at the tail end of Larry King Live and it was fucking great. And Larry King won a couple of bonus points last night for giving Jon's new baby a stuffed elephant and a stuffed donkey, even if Jon is right and Larry's staff bought the toys while Larry was out at the spa. Heeeeee. I hart you, Jon.
Today is Mardi Gras! HUZZAH! *flashes tits* It's also been exactly six months since Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf Coast. I don't know what the obscene gesture for that landmark is, but I'm pretty sure it involves a middle finger aimed in the general direction of the White House. More reflections on Katrina's impact will come later today, but for now, I'll just say that I'm glad as hell that New Orleans is partying this week. The media's tried to make some poorly-contrived debate over whether or not the city should even have Mardi Gras, which I think is stupid, because of course they should have it. I get the complaints that the city can't afford it, but dammit, there are some things you just push for. This is part of the city's soul. It's tradition. It's New Orleans. It's a celebration for all those who've survived the storm, and by God, they deserve it. Go get you some beads, NOLA. You earned 'em.
In other news, I'm in a fabulous mood today, because I managed to write over 1,500 words last night. OMGWTFBBQ SO EXCITED. Granted, I have no idea what exactly I'm writing (it's Ten/Rose, and I'm pretty sure there's porn involved, but as far as plot? NONE), but it's writing, and that's all that matters to me. YAY.
Finally, Beth Orton's new CD, Comfort of Strangers? Fucking fabulous. *adores*
