Taking a quick break in the monotony of my day (and the aching in my head) to throw around a ginormous amount of SQUEEE! for the new picture of David Tennant and Billie Piper in Doctor Who. I've been anxiously awaiting a glimpse at Ten's new look, and sure enough ...
OMG HE IS FUCKING ADORABLE!!!! EEEEEEEE!!!! Look at the rumpled pinstripe suit! The caramel overcoat! The rumpled hair! The jaunty way he tucks his hands in his pockets! The cocky, yet endearingly whimsical smile on Tennant's face! But the best part of all ...
THE SHOES!!!! AHHHH!!! Scuffed, faded sneakers with that delectable suit is just PERFECT Doctor. When I first caught a glimpse of the picture, I thought, "Awww, how adorable!" and then I scrolled down to the SHOES and just SQUEALED. Because the shoes make that look. The shoes make him the DOCTOR. Because you see this elegantly-dressed guy, but his hair's all mussed and his clothes are all rumpled and then those dorky, boyish, fanciful sneakers paired up with that outfit, and it's just CLEAR that this guy's like nothing you've ever seen before. He's THE DOCTOR. Tennant's sneakers are like the equivalent of Eccleston's grin. Playful, incongruous, utterly charming. Perfect.
In other words, yes, sometimes, the clothes DO make the man. Or the Time Lord, as the case may be. ;)
And yes, Rose is dressed like an Eskimo street urchin. Bzuh? Weird promo. But I do like that her shoes are cleaner than Ten's. Heeeee. ;)
