Today I went ice skating for the first time in my life. Did not fall, not even once. Major Win :-D
Hey, remember SPN season 1? Remember Dean's One True Love in that episode with the racist truck? Cassie. This year? We have Castiel aka Cas. Coincidence? You be the judge ;-P
It's only since I've seen slashers' posts about Merlin that I became even aware that you could read the whole "magic" thing as a gay metaphore. Of all the proof they trot out, my favourite is "Merlin actually lives in a closet!". Being a genner I think that pretty much all sci fi or fantasy shows are going to tackle racism/oppresion of minorities in some metaphorical way, and homosexuality is just one of the many things aliens/vampiers/magic could stand for. But it's British TV, you never know ;-P I do wonder if they've told either Bradley or Colin though
Started poking in yuletide fic, and they've been very generous with the Merlin fandom. Two stories I've read are two I've loved:
That Shall Achieve The Sword: gen (author marks it as pre-slash, but... yeah) PG13. Merlin's secret is revealed pretty publicily. This fandom is so young, and yet I already sense a trend of Merlin's-secret-is-revealed!fic where it all works out in the end and Arthur mopes that Merlin lied but then they're BFF again and Uther is forced to reconsider his stance on magic. This fic is not like this. :-)
Buggre Alle This: pre-slash, PG13. Bodyswap! After the drama of the other one, light hearted shenenigans :-D
For a further laugh: Boys and cameras goofing off. Oh, Merlin fandom. I think I may already love you as much as my old shows ;-P
