To buy or not to buy

Through one of the blogs I read I found this article that makes a case for not buying organic foods. Very interesting. And now you know why I don't buy from the organic department at Publix or shop exclusively at The Green Bean. I prefer to drive the 22 miles to get produce and eggs that aren't marked up, are organic (though not certified as such), and I can see how they're grown and how the chickens live. They're definitely free range.

And hey! Did you hear? Hernando County is getting a Farmer's Market! Beginning yesterday, every Saturday this summer local growers will be meeting in downtown Brooksville to sell their stuff. I didn't go yesterday because it was pouring, so I don't know yet whether it was successful. I'll find out today when I pick up my eggs from the farm we frequent. I hope the Farmer's Market is well attended and encouraged to continue. I miss going to the Saturday Market in Daytona. Now all we need is a co-op and Hernando will be set! Somewhat. At least in the agri-culture. (ha ha...see what i did there? yeah, i'm good) We need to get a little more set in public transportation, bike paths, and decent roadways. And stricter old people driving laws. Nearly every accident I pass around here has been caused by the slowly decomposing. Ok, that's kind of mean. But for real - we bough our house from a guy who, at the time, was NINETY-FIVE, was given the option of applying for a Social Security card, blind in one eye, shaky, moved at about the same pace as melting ice, and drove. He also had a stash of condoms hidden in the back of the bathroom cabinet my mom discovered when we were cleaning out the house of 1974 smell, but that's another story for another day.

And with those pleasantries, I bid thee Good Morning and Happy Sunday.

yummy, linkylinklink, social stuff
