Feliz Año Nuevo!
It is a tradition in Spain (and many Spanish speaking countries) to eat 12 grapes as the last 12 seconds of the old year count down to the new. As I ate my grapes tonight (and almost choked LOL), I thought of how I'd write my first-year post. These are my current resolutions (in no particular order) represented by lucky grapes:
- First grape is for health, both for me and my beagle (x-rays show he's recovering ... slowly, slowly) throughout the year.
- Second grape is for learning. I'd like to explore web design and French. Two seemingly different subjects, but I believe they're simply two types of languages. Also, maybe, going back to school for more classes about computers and systems management.
- Third grape is for writing a short story every quarter this year. Each one can be 10k or less. Then finding published homes for them.
- Fourth grape is for posting in my LJ once a week. *eeks* *commitment*
- Fifth grape is for eating healthier and learning how to cook. I'm even thinking of going vegan (eggs make me itch and dairy makes me cry, so no loss there).
- Sixth grape is for a different art medium. I would really like to start taking more photographs. It seems I only do it on vacation. How silly!
- Seventh grape is for exercising regularly. The weather is not an excuse! (I have an indoor gym!!)
- Eighth grape is for my attempt to get llehn on LJ. I WILL PERSUADE YOU!
- Ninth grape is for travel. I'm not sure where yet, but I'd like to visit a country I've never been to this year. (South America, I hear you calling!)
- Tenth grape is for love. It would be nice to start cooking for two. Although, let me do a little practicing first! :D
- Eleventh grape is for the foggy, misty, WIP. May it flow once it's started and not get too muddled in the process.
- Twelfth grape is for all of you. May 2009 bring more laughter than sorrow, more good news than no news.
