My dog has pneumonia. He gets three pills twice a day for 14 days. Two of the pills are antibiotics and one of the pills is for the vomiting that the antibiotics causes. For the first two days, he couldn't keep anything down including his food, but now he's doing pretty well. He still wheezes and coughs and sleeps a lot. As with any lung infection, sleeping is probably the best thing for him. Although, I'm honestly thinking about giving him chicken soup. Possibly too much sodium though, so I'll talk to the vet about chicken-y options. We're going to the (scary) vet again today for another check-up (hopefully it won't cost another $600 -- that was the ER bill last weekend).
Some quick facts:
- He's 8 years old this October.
- He's a pure-bred beagle.
- He knows the word 'vet' and is not pleased at all to hear it.
- He's probably more of a child to me than a pet.
Fingers and tails crossed!
