The End of the Year is Near

Crawling out of the Cave of Holiday Gluttony™ for a moment to post. Colorado did get snow to make this a white Christmas. It's always one of the things I ask "Santa" to bring me. The past three years have been white, so at least he's listening. I was going to take some photos, but family stuff took over and now it's dark outside.

I've been writing and re-writing my 12 goals for 2010. I'll post those on New Year's day, probably. Here's last year's list and how I did:

  1. Health, both for me and my beagle. Up until the past few weeks, I've been outstandingly healthy. Then I got some kind of flu followed by a cold that will not go away. Overall, I'm feeling this one was achieved!
  2. Learning. Learned a whole new web design (still working on it too). Didn't do so well with any French, but learned a bit of Irish.
  3. Writing a short story every quarter this year / Find published homes for them. Hmm. Didn't do so well with this one. Re-wrote a short 3 times, but never found a voice I liked and am actually still working on it.
  4. Post once a week. So far, only missed one week. Tried to make up for it by posting twice the following week. Still, I feel pretty good on this one.
  5. Eating healthier and learning how to cook. Did this one to amazing effect. I mean, I got my immediate family, my aunt's family, and co-workers to eat birdseed! There are a number of new dishes in my cooking arsenal too.
  6. Take more photographs. Failed. As usual, I only took them while on holiday.
  7. Exercise regularly. Up until the sickness, did this one too.
  8. Get llehn on LJ. I won the book. Once mailed, this one will be done.
  9. Travel to a country I've never been to this year. Went to Scotland, N. Ireland, and Ireland! YAY!
  10. Love. I don't really know why I bother putting this one down. Epic Fail, as usual. LOL
  11. WIP. Finished first draft for NaNo. Will work on edits in the new year.
  12. May 2009 bring more laughter than sorrow, more good news than no news. This was very vague, but I think this was done as well. 2009 seemed to be a big year for many on my flist, and in my every day life, so I'll check this one off too.

9 out of 12 isn't too shabby! Next year's goals echo many of these, but they're things that I can constantly improve on and always work on. If you also have resolutions, how did you do? Anything carrying over into the new year? Anything you're leaving behind in the first decade of the millennium?

For now, I'm off to have a nice sugar-induced sleep. ;)
