My coworker/manager Lorraine is a voracious Harry Potter fan, and she almost swore off the series after seeing this movie. She thought it was FUCKING TERRIBLE (her words) and that the Harry/Ginny stuff was really forced.
I had a much more positive reaction, but overall:
++ I loved the Harry/Hermione scene in the stairwell after Lavender kisses Ron, and Harry comforts Hermione. In my head his "comfort" involves some hot sex. Heh.
++ Everything with the Riddle flashbacks was awesome. I'm a huge sucker for backstory. In fact I want an entire movie with nothing but Riddle backstory, and how he built up his Death Eater army.
++ The spider funeral was brilliant and hilarious.
++ I kind of agree, that Dan and Bonnie don't have much chemistry together. Dan and Emma though, WOW. I mean, obviously I'm biased, but still. Also, the kiss scene in the Room of Requirement was such a let down. It was like, "that's it?!?" Sigh.
Overall, I like all the movies pretty well, but my favorite is Deathly Hallows Part I for now. (I think Part II will surpass it.)
