1. Friday I slept in until almost 7:30 (heresy!). Did a lot of writing, which was a good thing as I had a smallish fic due today for the
clever_claws fic exchange. I wrote about 3,000 words of my 3,400-word fic between 9 a.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday *pats self on back* It's good to know I am actually still capable of writing anything. I also found time to get my driver's license renewed and buy a new pair of sneakers/walking shoes. The ones I'd been wearing since last August or September had developed a nasty defect. They were
Avia brand and they developed cracks in the purple parts of the heels. The cracks became magnets for gravel, so my shoes were collecting little bits of gravel as I walked outside, which wasn't a problem outdoors. But indoors, especially in my office, they sounded like frakkin' castanets *facepalm* Not only that but they didn't fit quite right and my left foot hurt all the time. Anyway I found some different shoes, at Kohl's -
New Balance 492. My feet are starting to feel better already, and no more castanets in my heels!
2A. Yesterday we had a quiet 4th of July. DD and I looked for a possible birthday present for me - a used Nintendo 64 system to plug into our HD TV. We can't afford a Wii right now, so I think a N64 would be a good choice so we can play games together as a family; also, we've already got a bunch of games from when DD had a N64 system a few years ago (she apparently gave her game console and controllers to the place where she used to take Tai Kwan Do). Last night Mr. Annearchy and I watched Hellboy, which was a lot better than I had expected. I would be willing to watch the sequel!
2B. Also, big excitement for me because I found out that Monte Montgomery will be playing right outside Madtown on July 25th, and I'm already planning to see David Cook in West Bend (70 miles?) on the 23rd. So I get to see my two favorite musicians only 48 hours apart. I am in fangirl heaven. SQUEEEEE!
3. Today we're getting ready to drive up to Waupaca to visit our friends Steve and Barb, whom we've known pretty much forever (Steve was one of the first people I met when I moved to Wisconsin many years ago). Friday was Steve's birthday, so today is his annual birthday BBQ/extravaganza. They're setting up a tent for us outside because they've got continuous remodeling indoors and not enough room. So this will be sort of like camping, yes? Tomorrow I am taking a personal holiday so I don't have to worry about getting home tonight. Okay, must finish packing the car.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy belated 233rd birthday, U.S.A.!
