Tuesday mini-tirade

1. So today was generally not my day. First it took us at least 15 minutes to get out of the house from the moment darling daughter said "I'm almost ready". Then once I'd dropped her at school, I caught pretty much every red light between there and where I park for work (6 miles west). And of course, I got stuck in the right lane behind someone who decided to pull over and park, and it took me another minute (and 20 cars passing) before I could get back into the flow of traffic. Once I got to work the day was mostly good, though I had several weird phone calls and a project sort of thrown on me that I have to mostly get done tomorrow. Naturally, it started raining during the afternoon and I'd left my umbrella in my regular car, which I had traded with hubby today. At least I had a raincoat of sorts, so when I left work at 5:15 I had to wear my raincoat (with no hood) over my head so I wouldn't get drowned while walking the 7 blocks back to my car.

2. On the upside, we got darling daughter's 5th grade standardized tests a few days ago. She scored in advanced in reading but barely into "proficient" in math. This was puzzling because on her most recent report card, about 2 weeks ago, she got 3s and 4s in math (for the first time! Yaay). So I checked the test results form closely and discovered that she had taken the test last October o_O We had to wait 6 MONTHS for the test results?!! WTF, mate?! Well, the upside is that her actual school marks show that her understanding of math has improved dramatically the past six months, which is a relief because math really freaked her out earlier this year.

3. Did you know that cows give 3% more milk if they listen to Simon and Garfunkel songs? I heard it just now on Animal Planet. Weird.

4. Order of the Phoenix trailers are looking good. I'm excited about this movie. Is it July yet? :D
