I haven't seen you around LJ much the past year. Hope everything is okay and that you have a marvelous birthday.

2. As for my own birthday, I've had better. I went to bed last night with a bad tickle in my throat. Woke up around 3:00 feeling like crap. When the alarm went off at 6:00, I moved it up to 6:30 but didn't wake up until 6:39. Dragged myself out of bed, showered, and started re-reading chapter 16 of Half-Blood Prince for a discussion I'm involved in. Eventually dressed and ate a big slice of canteloupe for breakfast. Got to work around 8:30 and picked up the doughts that my co-worker, Larry, and I bought. (Only in Wisconsin does the birthday person bring the treats; it must be something to do with Scandinavian /Lutheran insistence on not being a bother to anyone). So my computer STILL doesn't work. In fact, this morning it provided an even more dramatic announcement of its impending death:

As I told the help desk, how can I back up my data when I can't even log on? Obviously I'm on a different computer again today. And my throat and lungs feel like sh*t on a shingle. But that bavarian cream donut I just ate was wonderful :D
