1. Rumor that J.K. Rowling will be spending part of the summer in the Hamptons in New York But what's this?? Best-selling author and black-arts enthusiast J.K. Rowling? *headdesk* Someone's been reading too much of that crap about the Pope saying that HP turns kids to Satan...What say you, f-list?

Poll Harry Potter and Satan

2. Yesterday we had our "Mystery Friends" party at church. I was paired with a kid (each of us supposedly a mystery to the other) and we wrote letters back and forth for 3 weeks. Yesterday I was supposed to find out who s/he was. Maya had already told me she was sure my friend was G, a boy in 7th grade. I was looking forward to talking and hanging out with him. I even brought 2 books related to Japan (from Mr. Annearchy's overstock), because he said he's obsessed with Japan. Then I got to the party and discovered he was sick and not at church. So I had no partner for the party. Mreh. I did tell his mom to let him know that Maya and I watched Spirited Away last week and loved it. She said it's one of his favorite animated film (and now one of mine too). So maybe I'll talk to him next weekend, assuming he's well enough to come to church. He seems like a nice kid.

3. Watched the Academy Awards last night for the first time in at least 5 years. I thought Mr. Annearchy would pitch a hissy, because he doesn't really like that stuff, but he's way in the corner of the room and can't really hear or see the TV that well anyway. So I watched and chatted with apolla, angiej, eliand504, eibbil_libbie and some other lovely folks (OMG I apologize if I forgot you were there. I knew I should have written this last night!) We had a great time chatting and eyeing all the celebs. May I say that George Swooney Clooney is...very nice to look at. Nobody who's not female should be allowed to be that pretty :D That said, there were WAAAAY too many blondes wearing beige last night. WTF?! Of all the nominated films, I'd seen only Narnia and the Wallace & Grommit film. Yeah, I spend way too much time watching kids' flicks. At least now I have a great long list of DVDs to rent.
