1. Maya was invited to sleep over at the home of AP, her best friend. I took her there a little before 8:00 p.m. - after I'd finished reading THE LIGHTNING-STRUCK TOWER (chapter 27 of HBP) to her. You know which chapter that is. She said to me, "Is this where Dumbledore dies?" I said yes, but wouldn't tell her how. She was squeezing my hand really hard while I was reading DD's interactions with Draco. Then when Snape came in and did what he did, she started bawling really loudly. She must have cried for 3-4 minutes; I thought she was going to need to use her inhaler. I asked if she was upset because it was Snape who did it. She said, no, it was because Dumbledore had died. She was really shaken up by it :( I hope she doesn't have bad dreams about it. Now I feel bad that I read it to her at night. But you know, I've been reading this book to her, sloooowly but slowly, for EIGHT FRIGGIN' WEEKS, and we still have 3 more chapters to do. At the rate we're going, we won't finish for another 2-3 weeks *sigh*
2. I should try to write tonight, but Mr. Annearchy has BSG on the tube right next to my desk, and I must admit it's very distracting...:D Mr. Annearchy is addicted to Sci-Fi Fridays. Well, at least the shows are good. I guess I'll deal with my beta comments on chapter 11 of my Fic O'Doom. Beta readers are saints, IMO, especially those who put up with me (they have callouses from holding my hand ;)
3. Welcome back,
eliand504, to LJ-land after your forced absense due to Katrina the Bitch. I'm glad to see you back. Buzz me on AIM if you see me online :)
4. Thank you,

New Orleans Flood Mapper -
http://mapper.cctechnol.com/floodmap.php I was able to find all 3 houses that I lived in while growing up in New Orleans. It looks like the most recent house, on Montegut Drive, just south of Pontchartrain Park, got hit the worst. The maximum water depth was 8.5 feet, with current depth estimated at 7.0 feet. I hope whoever was living there before Katrina hit was able to evacuate before 8/29. Where my sister Pat lived, on the north (lakeside) end of Canal Blvd., there is still about 9 feet of water. It appears that where Ellen lived on Henry Clay Avenue, near Audubon Park Zoo, is dry. It also looks like my parents' street in Jefferson Parish got only about 1/2 foot of water. So...overall, not too bad except for Pat's place.
