(no subject)
Oh, my horribly neglected blog....
I was just thinking about my blog, and I realized that my name (annamd2010) is no longer correct. I won't be graduating in 2010 anymore. Why, you ask? Did I fail neuro? Get suspended for abusing a patient? Just couldn't take it anymore?
No, no, and...maybe, but that's not why.
I got a kick ass (at least I hope!) job for a year in the pathology department. I've really found that I like pathology a lot, so it sounded like fun. Also, since you don't really get to try it out extensively in rotations 3rd and 4th year and it is SO different from the other, very patient care based specialties I'm thinking about, I thought it would be a good idea to really see if I could BE a pathologist, or if I'd be sad that I wasn't an OB or a pediatrician or something. So I applied and got into the program. They pay me AND I get to keep my full time student status as to not loose my health insurance or go into loan repayment (cause they're not paying me enough to do that :-p).
So this June, while all of my classmates march off to rotations, I'll be marching off to learn to do autopsies and work in the surgical path lab. It makes me a little sad to give up that "10" graduation year...but sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do. 2011 graduation, here I come!
