One down, two to go.
I just sent in my first final paper of my PhD career. "Fair Verona in Fair Veronese: Giuseppe Barni's Dialect Translation of Romeo and Juliet". Geeky enough?
Two to go:
"Portraits of Cannibals: a Metaphorical Decriminalization of Translation", which is mostly written (and is a whopping 25 pages), and just needs to be proof-read a couple of times.
The as-yet untitled medieval Italian literature paper, mostly also as-yet unwritten, in which I will attempt to compare particular writings of two poets and two mystics in order to understand how their ideas of love and of salvation fit together. Perhaps also Dante. It seems hard to get away from him when writing about medieval Italian literature. I wonder why.
Wish me luck! "Portraits of Cannibals" is due this coming Thursday, the Italian paper is due the 28th of December (!) but I really want to finish it this week so that all I have to do next week is grade final exams.
