I will try and see if I can get pictures uploaded soon, and will then upload my Fukuoka post as well, but I’ll have to see if imgur will work with me. If not, I’ll try and find a new image site, but I’ll do that this weekend.
Today, I had to go to the same schools as the other ALT. She hadn’t been at work for the past week, because she has been volunteering at the Rugby World Cup I didn’t know we could take time off for something like that, but anyway. And she hadn’t given me anything for what classes we would have, and what time we had to be there. So I made sure to get to the office early, and then had to wait for her for twenty minutes.
Honestly, I should have just gone to the school, since when we got there, they told us we were late. The other ALT thought we started second period, the school thought we started first period. Great. We had the third years first and second period, and they had so much trouble focussing (they always do, but still). They did the alphabet, and half of them barely knew anything, so they’re not really picking things up so far. They were complaining that it was because of my pronunciation, because the pronunciation of a foreigner is more difficult. It’s not, you’re just saying it wrong.
Then we had the fifth years for two hours, and they did really well the first hour, then were tired and suddenly couldn’t understand things they still understood an hour before. It was kind of weird to see, but they seemed really tired.
After that we headed to another school and I actually had time to eat properly, yay~ Usually I start at my junior high school and then head to the elementary school where I have about 5 minutes to eat ><.
At my other school I started with the third years, who were loud and unfocused. It was kind of hard to get them to do anything, and it didn’t help that the teacher left and told me and the students to “wait till she came back” instead of just letting me continue the lesson. At first I figured she would be back soon, but she wasn’t and so I went to find her and asked her if I could just continue.
Then I had the fourth years, where the teacher was chaotic as ever, which meant the children were chaotic as well. His instructions are never clear, plus he always changes them halfway through, so even I have no idea what he wants the children to do ^^;; In the end everything worked out okay, though. He said he’d dropped the HDD and this time it wouldn’t work anymore >< (I also dropped it two weeks ago, so when was told it was broken I was afraid it was my fault, but thankfully it wasn’t).
It was too warm to wear long sleeves today, so I had to take my jacket off, but even though my arms are completely covered in bruises, no one said anything, so I guess I’m good? Makes me wonder about people who get abused and such, though. You often read about them hiding their bruises, but even without hiding them no one says anything. Is it weird I think about things like that? xD
Tonight’s volley was a lot of fun. I’m starting to get the hang of it, as in, I can do what I’m supposed to more often. I still have to work on my control a lot, though ^^;; My bruises have become more pronounced again, but they’re also getting more where they’re supposed to be, which is a good sign!
