Balthazar doesn’t really expect it. He knows Castiel will find out ,but not now, not like this. Helping the Winchesters wasn’t the best idea he’s ever gotten, but he did it anyway. What’s to lose for him right now?
Castiel has grown so much, he thinks :a loyal soldier to a terrifying ruler of a feathered army, a blind friend to a suspicious leader. He speaks like a general ,and his words make Balthazar think of Michael ,when they were young .
“I'm doing my best in impossible circumstances. My friends-they abandon me, plot against me; it's difficult to understand.”
It is, really, because Cas always cared too much for those two humans. He had -what do they call it- too much of a heart. And nobody truly stole that from him.
“Well ,you’ve…You’ve always got little old me.”
The blade’s sting is like ice through his core and he feels his vessel’s blood spill from the wound. His grace screeches away, dancing in his eyes. Balthazar finally gets what Castiel wants to do.
“Yes, I’ll always have you.”
The voice is dead with imperviousness. There’s a sudden pain ,burning through his whole being. He really wants that script back..
