but then the dove of hope began its downward slope

I realize looking for good fanfiction at The Pit of Voles is a bit of a contradiction in itself, but hey, quite often every once in a while, I'm desperate enough to try anyway. However, it is a bit frustrating that ninety percent of the stories there already fail to have a decent enough summary to stir any further interest. And I don't even ask for very much. How not to write and post a summary of your fanfiction, if you want [sane] people to read it:

#1 Misspelling the main characters' names. Seriously, it can't be that hard! In fact, make that bad spelling and grammar in general. Then again, I guess it's called the pit for a reason.

#2 It almost seems as if these kind of statements have become the new disclaimers: "xyz sorry, bad summary, I know!" or "story is much better than summary, i swear!" or "not good at writing summaries, please try anyway" - If you know it's bad, then do something about it! If you can write a decent story, then you can also write a decent summary. If not on the other hand, well then, thanks for the pointer, I suppose.

#3 CAPSLOCK OF RAGE or what I assume was your toddler/cat/younger sibling hitting random keys on your keyboard.

#4 A loong list of ship names I guess only you can understand or possibly made up yourself.

#5 Actual squeeing (YAY! WOW! OMG!) to me pretty much is a dead giveaway that you probably tried to make a fanfic out of your AIM chats with your BFF.
