Happy Halloween!

I know I don't update but once or twice a month, but I usually check in and read my friends list every couple of days. But when I went to my friends list today I realized I hadn't even been doing that for most of the month. Where did the time go?!? Loved reading everything you've been up to. :)

The Spousal Unit and I actually got a jump start on our Christmas shopping today when we checked out the new brick and mortar ThinkGeek store in the Florida Mall. Glorious! Then we went to the new food court and ate at a brand new French bistro that was surprisingly really wonderful. We don't go to the mall but once in a blue moon anymore, but we may have to go more often now. And it was a really good day to go too, and not just because people were showing up with their kids in costume for trick-or-treating; but the best part was how the mall wasn't all that busy. That's very unusual for this particular mall that is a favorite with foreign tourists, especially on a Saturday. We're guessing because it's Halloween day that most folks are busy with Halloween festivities instead and not out shopping.

We're ready with our candy for any trick-or-treaters who do come by, but we just don't get that many anymore, which always depresses me. We don't have any little kids in our neighborhood now, and most people don't decorate, which is a big fat BOO in my estimation. We don't have little kids anymore either, but we still love to decorate for the holiday.

Last weekend we finally had our new Samsung kitchen appliances delivered and installed. We'd actually bought everything during a Labor Day sale at the end of August, but the refrigerator style we wanted wasn't available until mid-October. But they're here in time for the holidays, and they look really good in the kitchen because we got the appliances in black to go with the black granite countertops. Gives the whole kitchen a very clean modern look, which is just what we wanted. Stainless steel wouldn't have looked anywhere near as good, and TSU dislikes the stainless steel look anyway. What's annoying, though, is how it no longer matters in what color you get your appliances - white, black, or stainless, it's all the same price per model. So, essentially, what the industry has done is raise the prices of white and black to match the stainless prices, probably because, despite what you see on HGTV, stainless wasn't flying out the door as fast as the other two colors.

At the end of September The Girl Child and her BF flew in for a long weekend to attend Halloween Horror Nights here in Orlando. Last year they did HHN in LA, but the BF wanted to check out the larger park here in Florida. It was good to see them, and they're coming back again for Christmas. We're spending Thanksgiving at the Niece's house in Jonesville again. Works for me.

I got together with vala3 a couple weeks ago for Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. It was good to see her, the weather was great, the park was crowded.

I just got done watching the stage production of Rocky Horror Picture Show that BBCA aired a couple weeks ago. I recorded it and decided to save it until today. It was fun, but, I don't know, everything pales to me in comparison to the Tim Curry movie, which aired on one of the pay channels the same week BBCA aired this production. I love that movie!

Tonight Starz's Ash vs the Evil Dead premieres, and we're definitely going to watch it live while we dvr Doctor Who. I don't know why, it kind of bums me out, but I just can't get into DW this season. I turn it on faithfully every Saturday, but I usually end up reading during the hour, or checking in on the computer. I can't stay engaged, for whatever reason.

If we like Ash vs the Evil Dead as much as I think we will - there's solid buzz surrounding the show - that will be only the second new series we've added to our viewing repertoire. Out of all the new series we've tried so far this fall season, the only thing we're keeping up with is Scream Queens. Well, we also watch The Bastard Executioner, but I usually end up watching it off the dvr a few days later, and even then I mostly FF through it.

Lady Gaga is actually working for me on this season of American Horror Story. I didn't have high hopes for her, and it's obvious most of the heavy lifting is being done by the other far more seasoned actors. But given the role she's playing, she works pretty seamlessly.

I was relieved to read that Netflix renewed Longmire for another season. If you thought the cliffhanger the show ended on a year ago when A&E still aired it was annoying, that was nothing compared to the one that played out on it's first season on Netflix. It would have been horrible if the show ended like that with no resolution.

I'm off to the Supernatural Pasadena con in less than two weeks!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
