Thanksgiving

Popping in today to wish all the Yanks a Happy Thanksgiving. And if it doesn't apply to you, happy end of the week to you. :)

I've made two batches of deviled eggs, then relinquished the kitchen to The Spousal Unit to make his pies - well, three of the four he's going to make. Today he's tackling the apple crisp, pecan, and pumpkin. Tomorrow he'll make the chocolate pie while I whip up a basic crockpot mac and cheese that's easy to transport and plug in when we get to the niece's. Tonight I'm going to make a more grown-up mac and cheese which I'll pop in the oven tomorrow to finish baking right before we leave so, hopefully, it'll stay hot enough for dinner.

Our friends from Tampa will, fingers crossed, be here on time at 1 pm so we can all drive over to the niece's at 1:30. Since we couldn't take them up their invite for dinner, we invited them to come along with us.

They were here this past Saturday too so we could all watch the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode together. They don't get BBCA, and TSU also had a lousy (and I do mean lousy) Gator game to go to that afternoon, so we couldn't watch the episode until that evening anyway. I had to stay off twitter all day so I wouldn't know everything that happened before TSU and our friends got home. I've kind of been off twitter ever since. Busy!

We completely missed An Adventure in Space and Time that aired the night before, so I recorded the rerun on Sunday night and we're saving it to watch tomorrow after we all get back after dinner.

We all like the episode, though I actually think the internet special they did with Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy, and Colin Baker was a lot more entertaining and a LOL riot! My fav part of the actual episode was the scene at the end between Matt Smith's Doctor and Tom Baker as "The Curator". It was like they threw in that scene just for me - my two favorite Doctors interacting on screen together. Christmas came early for me. :D

Speaking of Christmas, I spent the last couple of days decorating the house. We still have to put up the tree this weekend and TSU has to do the outside lights. It's been warm and muggy the last couple of days, but today the cold front is making its way through central Florida, and by tomorrow we'll actually have a chilly Thanksgiving - what passes for chilly here in Orlando. We'll love the seasonal change of pace, except for the fact that it will get cold enough tonight that we'll have to bring in the rabbit from the back porch.

We finally got out to see Thor 2 a couple weeks ago. We liked it fine, better than some second movies that get made after an origin movie. I'm not quite as enamored of Loki as a lot of fans are, but he's entertaining enough. The previews for the second Captain America looked pretty exciting and definitely better than the first movie, which I found mostly boring.

I had to take a Bendryl a few hours ago, and now it's making me very sleepy. I wish I could take a nap, but that's not going to happen.

Have a good one, folks!
