PSYCH and JUSTIFIED finales

I just caught up with last night's finale of Psych, and I'm like whaaaaaat???? I don't keep up with the rumor mill WRT Psych, I just tune in for the laughs and the love, but does anybody know if Corbin Bernsen isn't going to return next year?

I wasn't suspicious that it was a Henry-heavy episode, but I did get a little nagging in the back of my brain at the end of the episode when Henry is suddenly packing up his desk and announcing he's going back to retirement, followed by a semi-serious bonding moment between Henry and Shawn.

But then one of Henry's old partners goes and shoots him! And that's how they leave it - not knowing if Henry is dead or alive? Come on, this ain't Harlan County! They can't do that to Shawn!

*nervous*

Speaking of Justified ... wow. Sometimes a series or a movie will make a bad guy SO bad, you just know no matter what happens to him in the end, it won't be as much as he deserves. But I've got to say it was pretty damn satisfying, if not pretty damn gross, when Limehouse chopped off Quarles' arm and he lay there on the floor twitching and bleeding out.

I've got to hand it to the Justified writers for strictly adhering to Chekhov's gun rule. All season long I wondered when Limehouse's meat cleaver was going to be put to deadly use, and it finally happened at the bitter end and to the guy who certainly deserved it the most. Awesome. ;)

But, damn, that Boyd is living a charmed life. Every time you think he's going back to jail, some twist occurs to get him out of it - this time in the form of an increasingly demented Arlo taking the fall for killing Devil.

The one plot point I really hated, though, was Tom's death. He was a damn good cop, witty and smart, and he had a terrific rapport with Raylan. One of my favorite semi-recurring characters. I didn't want to see him killed off. *waaaaaaaaah*

Though the worst part of the reveal that Arlo killed Tom is the understanding that he thought he was actually killing Raylan. Yeah, Arlo will never snag that Father of the Year award, that's for sure.

Oddly, I ended up kind of appreciating the pregnant Winona storyline that I thought I would hate, because it kept her off screen most of the season. Yay. ;)

We're experiencing very pretty weather, not as brutally hot as last week - but it's unfortunately also bone dry with no moisture on the horizon. I fear we're in for a fiery repeat of the summer of 1998. This is the year we're going to be begging for a tropical storm. What we need is another Hurricane Frances of '04 that sat on top of the entire state for three days with relentless rain. Anyone handy with a divining rod?

psych, weather, justified
