Brighthouse harshes my buzz

I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode of Supernatural, except for 3-4 minutes at 48 minutes into the hour when the cable went out right at the part where Sam and The Very Special Guest Star are piecing it all together. *AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH*

It came back on before the end of the episode, after I was already in full frothing at the mouth mode and the expletives were flying fast and loose; but I won't get back those crucial scenes I missed until the damn thing is rerun. My recording of The O.C. is also going to be screwed up at the same point, which pisses me off much more so than it would have last season because I actually do think the show is surprisingly and happily back on course sans Marissa Cooper. I'm just sorry it's getting killed in the ratings to the point that now I must worry if FOX will allow the series to run out it's, probably final, 16-episode order. *sigh*

Aside from those technical glitches that are completely outside my control, I thought The Usual Suspects was one of SPN's best episodes yet. In fact, overall I think the second season has been really strong and hitting mostly high notes so far, especially when they stick to the more stand-alone episodes and stay away from the mytharc stuff, because that's where the writing and directing is at its weakest. It doesn't help that I can already see where Kripke is pulling a Chris Carter with the Demon Fire Babies Mytharc (oy vey!), and I predict the whole thing will de-evolve into a colossal mess as time wears on, ala The X-Files' "Mulder's Sister" nightmare, among others. But when they stay away from that, the show is golden. ;)

Thumbs down for this week's episode of House. Just a really uninteresting plot, and I'm not happy that they're back to pulling the same disappearing Chase shit the writers pulled most of last season, topped off by the usual overdose of annoying Cameron. I love reading that Jesse Spencer watches Battlestar Galactica, though. A man with taste deserves more screen time! :D

I don't know why we're still watching Jericho. The writing is truly horrible. And, yet, I still want to know the mystery behind the nuclear attacks, despite my better sense. Plus it stars Skeet Ulrich. FWIW. ;)

I think the strongest episodes of Veronica Mars this season have been those with a lot of focus on Keith Mars. I'm loving this reunion between Enrico Colantoni and his ex-Just Shoot Me costar, Laura San Giacomo. Good stuff! I just wish CW would hurry up and give the series a full season pick up.

I don't miss watching Gilmore Girls. Sad.

While I do believe it's smart of ABC to air Lost in uninterrupted chunks, I don't think the show has been on long enough yet this season, nor have the episodes been their strongest, to warrant taking it off the air for three months. I think this will prove to be a huge mistake.

My interest/disinterest in Smallville continues to run counter to the prevailing fandom opinions - I think. Maybe? Okay, I don't really know because not too many people on my flist discuss SV anymore. But, FWIW, I know it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever given Lionel's history, but I'm grooving on the Mionel and I think Glover and O'Toole have buckets more chemistry than did AOT and John Schneider. I mostly like Clark again, especially now that he's embracing his destiny and he's not saddled with Lana. I'm just sorry Lex is saddled with her, and I don't think they have any chemistry together. On the flip side, I like the animosity between Clark and Lex, and seeing Lex finally embracing his own dark destiny (at least, that's what I assume is going on). I still thoroughly love me some Chloe, she remains The Shiny for me in this show. I like Jimmy, and Chloe and Jimmy together, as well as all Chloe and Clark scenes. I really like Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, though he's got lousy taste in women, and he has way more chemistry with Clark besides. So if I can FF through most of the Lana shit, I'm finding enough to keep me entertained - especially if I don't think about any of it for too long or take it too seriously. ;)

One last note on the real world - color me surprised by the mind-boggling election results after Tuesday's Midterm Midtacular. I mean, not so much here in Florida where everything stays the same, for the most part. I don't know if the Dems can govern any better than the Rethugs - probably not - though I do think they have less hatred in their hearts for the populace as a whole. I'm also not convinced the voters were so much voting for the Dems as they were clearly voting against the Rethugs - or, rather, making a loud vocal statement against the Bush Administration. I knew things would have to get bad enough for people to wake up from their apathy of the last six years; and we are now at that point, and the voters cast their ballots accordingly. That gives me some hope for the future. :)

I tossed a bunch of my old icons this morning. I haven't replaced them yet, but I just got tired of looking at them, and they weren't ones I hardly ever used besides. Now I have to come up with some new stuff. ;)

P.S. to ezust: The disks arrived! Torchwood! Lucid! THANK YOU! :D
