Rockin' with Europe
When I am excited that something awesome is happening, I tend to play Europe's "The Final Countdown." A lot. Or maybe watch YouTube videos of live performances (either by Europe or After Forever). What? Late innings of a big Red Sox playoff win, or the night before an election that just has me overjoyed for a number of reasons. Like nothing in my life. It is certainly true that I am far less cynical about politics now than when I was in (especially) high school or (to a lesser degree) college. And there are many reasons for that transition, but the bottom line is that I am really full of hope.
And the song is just so awesome. The lyrics aren't' all that, but the melody is just perfect. I'm sitting here doing the ecstatic fist-pump. The After Forever version is really good -- their singer is amazing, energetic, and enthusiastic.
