COALITION OF AGING ROCKERS (C.A.R.) is an advocacy organization that seeks to improve scene conditions for people over the age of 30 in today's greater rock and roll economy. C.A.R. recently won the 2005 Best of the Bay award from the SF Bay Guardian for "Best Adult Rock and Roll Night".
"There comes a moment in every rock fan’s life when, as much as the spirit says, “I want to rock ’n’ roll all night,” the flesh proves weak. Fortunately, the COALITION OF AGING ROCKERS feels your pain. A self-described “advocacy organization devoted to improving scene conditions for rockers over the age of 30,” CAR makes it possible to see bands and still get home in time to catch Matlock. Its first show, at the Hemlock Tavern, started at seven sharp and was over by nine. Despite, or perhaps because of, the unique door charge (over 30, $5; under 30, $7) it was a sold-out smash. CAR plans to follow up with more shows at the Hemlock and other venues. A special CAR T-shirt featuring its snappy Clash-inspired logo in a handy “X-Medium” size (trim in the shoulders with a skosh more room in the waist), is in the works, and plans are on the drawing board for a big CAR show featuring a Big (if Aged) Indie Rock Band. You may be too old to make last call, but you’re never too old to rock ’n’ roll." - SF Bay Guardian Best of the Bay 2005
