MEGAUPDATE! part 2
YAY! Okay, so part 2 of all the fandom-y stuff! (Can you tell I've been saving up for awhile?)
Fics
I organised a WIP folder yesterday between watching movies and writing and cleaning and unwinding from school stress stuff, and found that I have -- wait for it -- twenty eight fics in progress at the moment. *head explodes* I used to have 30, but I finished one of them off and then combined two ideas into one fic so now it's twenty eight, including two started novel-lengths, one of which is certainly about to be rocketed into AU come July (and which I therefore may not be finishing as I certainly won't have time to finish it before then), and the other which...has been on hiatus for awhile.
However, I am going to attempt to finish as many of the other fics as possible before the inevitable happen -- there are some that I'm pretty sure won't be too badly affected by the release of HBP, including a couple AUs and ARs, but the rest of them (mostly H/D fics) I want to get finished.

Reversathon
My Reversathon assignment is perfect. fluffyllama is an absolute genius, and I can't wait to get started on my fic, which I am determined to finish well before the due date this time. >_> I've already had a sort of bunny for the smut -- now I just have to figure out how to make it fit into a plot of sorts. Er...or at least set it up. *grins*
I've also been chatting to other people, and it seems the general consensus (with a few exceptions) that everyone is in much the same boat, so that's wonderful. I can't wait to see what awesome stuff comes out of this.

omgSQUEEEEEEEE!!!! naggingfishwife seriously draws some of the most awesome art, really -- I love the vibrancy of her colours, and the personality she gives her pictures, and she's not afraid to try anything (I mean, come on, an entire series of Hagrid bestiality?), and she's sweet and wonderful and just overall brilliant, and she's doing art for ME. *dies* I can't even tell you how excited I am -- when she read Subtle Nuances, she said it gave her pictures, and now she's drawing them. *squeals like a mad squealy thing*
The first one is up here, and it's Draco looking sulky and Kingsley looking stern and Harry looking excessively diverted and I think my toes just curled because I'm so very thrilled because this totally bodes well for....omg....the rest of the series she's doing. *dies again*

So with all my spare time now that classes are done and I only have a couple papers to write (YAYE!), I've been reading a lot of fic. hd_fqf has obliged me in that it's the end of the fest and the comm's been flooded with posts, so I've been navigating through there, and there's just been a lot of really excellent stuff posted in general. So without further ado, a few of the fantastic pieces I've come across in the past day or so.
Death Eater Twister (gen), by monkey_chow
I came across this while browsing friendsfriends, and I think I may have hurt something from laughing so hard. Lucius, Narcissa, Severus, and ickle Draco contorted into the weirdest positions ever, and they all look so...Pureblooded is the only word I can think of. *sporfles*
Also of the funny, The Wanton Wonton (H/D), by furiosity
I don't even know that I could tell you why this fic made me laugh as hard as I did, but I found it highly entertaining. I do love crackfic so very very much, and anything with a grumpy Draco and a ridiculous OC in a foreign country is fine by me, thanks.

Er, do you all remember mctabby's best/worst pairing thing, where you say your favourite character and your least favourite character and then come up with a scenario to put them together? Hilarita wrote mine. *cringes and hides* It's Draco/Umbridge, with mentions of Snaco, H/D, and various squicky pairings that made me turn a bit green in the face, but she did it in a very frighteningly believable way. And it even has humour...of a sort. *shudders* So...if you've a strong stomach, go read.
In a less humorous note, fluffyllama wrote Dark Corners, Darker Creatures, which is Lucius/Remus fucking in an alley and is utterly brilliant. This is totally one of my guilty pleasure pairings, and I love love love when it turns out twisted and convoluted like this. If I didn't already know llama was an absolute star, this fic would've convinced me.
If anyone could make me read Pansy/Cho and believe it, it'd be blythely, who wrote The Sporting Life, which is one of the most brilliant pieces of femmeslash I've ever read. And it's not unmitigated porn -- it's classy, and elegant, and just full of gorgeous imagery and so much life that I think I could read it over and over again and not get sick of it. And I don't even like Cho.
And...*shock* A gen rec. The Twilight Before, by lalejandra
It's...it's seriously my non-sexual kink. A glimpse at what makes the four houses different, a real character study, but not so much of people as of types, manifestations of the different houses, and just...eeeeeeeeee. Seriously. circe_tigana recced this and I'm so, so very glad she did.

GUH.

I love her art soooooo much, and this is no exception -- I love the differences between Harry and Draco, that even though they're both obviously boys, they don't look...generic male, if that makes any sense, and it's an adorable little comic strip with some truly gorgeous expressions and details and just YES. Eeeeeee!
RP stuff
On a rather less jubilant note, I'm taking a break from the_leaky. I'm kind of burned out at the moment on...lots of things, but I was really hesitant to do anything about it for a long time because I was having fun even though it was tiring me out, but a few days of just being thoroughly exhausted made me realise that I need to lay off a bit, and with marksykins on hiatus and leogryffin so busy, it seemed a good decision to make. I won't be giving it up for good, though, by any means -- dragonbreath_muse would kill me if I did. :D
One last note (somewhat RL related)
Next week...I will not be around much. I'm going home next weekend for a much needed chill out session and a hug (I love you all, but three months without a real hug is a bit much even for me), and will undoubtedly take my laptop with me to get some writing in while my parents are at work and the like, but I shan't be refreshing my flist obsessively or anything, nor will I probably be posting much. I don't know if this trend will continue into the summer or not -- depends on where/when I manage to find a job. *needs a job like whoa* If I do end up getting, say, a 40 hour a week job in retail...well. Haha. Yeah.
Aaaand...I think that's it from me! I'm sure you've all gone cross-eyed at this point so I'll just quietly sneak off now and pretend I didn't talk your ears off. ♥ to you all and hope you're having a fabulous weekend.
