Title: The Devil to Pay
Author: Michele Hauf

If you've been following my book post (undoubtedly nobody is) you'd have read about the free hokey romance novel I downloaded onto my Kindle and read back at the beginning of February. Well I mentioned in that post that there was a sequel detailing what happened to the baby made in that book and promised to the devil. I also mentioned that I *might* break down and buy it if it wasn't too much, just cus I am SUCH a sucker for books, any books, in a series. Well it was $1.99 in the Kindle store, so I figure, worst case scenario, I averaged out to have spent a buck on each book - since the first one was free.

It turns out that this one was so epically better than the first. Normally one expects many many explicit scenes in books like this, but actually this one was 90% character and story development and only had 1 real graphic scene, and a couple of sweet sex scenes. Thankfully the author did not overuse the word "mons" in this one like she did the first one. I realize its a correct description, but its just one of those words that romance novelists use that makes me go "ewe" not "ah". And no, I can't think of a better word for it... I just don't like THAT one. I think she only used it twice in this book, but like more than 10 times in the last one!!

Just like most romance novels, you can tell who the love interest is going to be as soon as she is introduced. Even the big "twist" in this one was easy to see coming (a little too many context clues). But the book itself was surprisingly entertaining, and I enjoyed the world that the author created.

Overall, worth a buck, way better than book one and kept me amused during my breast-pumping sessions at work - which is all I was really looking for until I could purchase the next book in the Rachel Morgan series... which for sure will be the next book I read!
