Yet another new year!

Dec 26, 2007 20:22

Every year, it comes without fail - no, not new year day. I meant the accompanying dilemma - to decide what to do on this very crucial day of our lives.

I don’t think people stay at home and meditate like they way they used to many, many years ago. And I don’t feel like being the exception either.

I’m all for a peaceful and quiet new year, on my ownsome with the cat for company, but wait… that’s pretty much what I do everyday anyway :)

Added to this dilemma, is the fact that it’s one time of the year when I really don’t like being alone.

So here are my choices:

Option 1: Wait for theman to whisk me away to an exotic location, swear undying love and walk me into the sunset hand in hand. (Before you laugh out loud, it’s been known to happen in other people's lives!). But apparently, in these modern times everyone makes their own plans so it's each to his/her own. Things work rather differently these days and I'm still coming to terms with them :) I'm still terribly outdated and old fashioned, I think! Which means I need to quickly cross out this option!

Option 2: Spend new year alone with the cat. Hmmm. I've already mentioned it, haven't I? Sounds pretty much like any other day in my life :)

Option 3: Herald the new year watching TV programs? The thought itself is rather distasteful, as I seem to have developed some kind of a phobia towards television. Besides, I’m on a TV detox diet for a year (I don’t own a set either!) and I don’t want to break my record on this auspicious day.

Option 4: Go to some random party where no one cares about me, and vice versa. Crossed out quicker than option 1 :)

Option 5: Go away somewhere all on my own. Some place near the water. I have this wish to watch the first sunrise of 2008 by the water. Hmmm. A rather tempting thought except for the fact that there are no train or bus tickets available to go anywhere. It would be easier to get a date with Brad Pitt right now and I’m not even kidding. Did you know that people plan their new years about 3-4 months in advance? I can’t even start telling you how impressed I am with people’s ability to fore-plan. (Update: Yippee! Just got news from Santosh from getofurass.com that he has space for me in a new year trip he was planning! So looks like I'll be heading out somewhere, after all! Not the water, but it's better than nothing! :)

Choices, choices!

Option 2 is looking highly likely right now. And while on that note, what plans for the new year? :)

2008, newyear
