Squirrel!
Summers in DC are usually hot and humid, but today it was beautiful out. High in the upper 70's, no humidity, light breeze, and a bright blue sky.
So...I aired out the house and opened all the windows first thing. This morning I noticed as I did this that there was a squirrel who was particularly interested in what I was doing and followed me around from window to window. When I got to the kitchen, I noticed the window didn't have a screen. I looked at the Squirrel sitting inches away and thought for a moment but decided that there was nothing inside to tempt the Squirrel, especially not with me banging around in there all day...so I opened it. The squirrel was surprised and a bit frightened and ran away immediately.
I saw and heard nothing more from him until 5 pm this evening. I was relaxing on my couch in the living room, stop to look over and there he is, peeking his way around the kitchen door. I get up and he runs back to the window and outside, waiting on a fence pole several feet away and looking at me. There! I decide and go back to the living room. A second later, he's sitting in the living room window bewildered that there's this mesh thing in his way! I get up and he runs back out the kitchen window. Since I don't follow him, he come's back in immediately and sits in the middle of the living room. It's at this time I decided to get my camera.
