[But - She was - she was dead. He'd finished her off like Vanitas had wanted and he'd done a good job and now she was alive? One of those who'd left him in the dark was --] Aqua......?
[A shake of his head rapidly. Just as soon as the anger is there, it's gone, replaced by denial and fear. Ventus' hand goes to the hidden collar under the tower one then drops like he's been burned.] ....
Why....? you're better off dead.
[... that's.. an awful lot of betrayal and guilt there, Ventus.]
[She smiles at first, seeing Ven, but then-- this is...
This is so wrong. She doesn't know immediately that this Ventus is a different incarnation altogether, but she knows her Ven far too well to not realize that this is not him, somehow.
Her expression turns to worry, and only worsens as he goes on. What does he mean, she should be dead? She's better off dead? Her gut turns unpleasantly, and she looks visibly hurt -- it's subtle, but it's there. Her voice is quiet when she speaks.]
Ven, what's wrong? What...do you mean by that?
[She knows she had to rescue him from the nightmare world, but it had been a few days since then, and this is just...had something else happened to him, something worse that she didn't know about?]
[There is a noticeable flinch at the nickname, Ventus stiffening, as if expecting pain.] Ventus. My name is Ventus.
[Sadly, if it were only the nightmare world that had done this... At her question his face morphs into a look of disbelief, then hurt. So much hurt. He thinks you are his Aqua - the one he killed not a month ago, for him.] You -- You.... are you saying that you've forgotten? That you don't remember what happened in that alleyway? Aqua....
[A headshake and a small, bitter laugh/sob along with a completely betrayed look.] He's right. Of course you don't care if you can't even bother to remember what happened or that you left me in the darkness, that you just abandoned me. But he cares... And I... I - I should kill you, because then t-th-that will make him h-happy an-and maybe he won't be mad at me. I think.
[Ven, your smile cannot hide the terror in your eyes - or the look that says you don't want to kill.] You should be dead.
[Her hurt gradually gets harder and harder to conceal, her knightly facade slipping the further Ventus goes. Despite all of her paranoid thoughts during the month of October, she knows Ven would never betray her. They'd had squabbles -- she can still vividly remember the day Ven had looked at her and called her awful for her role in monitoring Terra -- but this is insane. Why would he...]
I would never abandon you. I don't know what you're talking about. Ven, until we came to this tower, it had been over ten years since we'd last seen each other. I'm the one that's been in the darkness...
[Despite the pain in her facial expression, she's still overwhelmingly worried, and it shows.]
[At her question, Ventus blinks, confused and hurting - and ignoring the fact that he might be hurting his once-friend's look-a-like. It doesn't matter anyway. As far as he knows and cares right now, she should be hurting - like he hurt back when it all started.

[Ven, it might have been because Aqua was BUSY FIGHTING MALEFICENT to run after you, you derp. Also, Vanitas dragged you off before she arrived on the scene anyways.]
V-Vanitas s-said so - and he's the only one who's n-never lied to me. [Just twisted/omitted a few dozen or so facts and left you in the dark about more than one thing, Ventus.] A-And he's right of course. You never came and I waited, h-hoping that you would.

[It's the Vanitas thing that twists her face in anger and frustration -- few things have the ability to bring that out in her. He's one of them.] Vanitas is a monster. He doesn't care about anyone. Why would he ever tell you the truth, especially about your friends? The people who love you? When has Vanitas ever done anything that wasn't to hurt someone?
[She takes a few deep breaths after that, her fury subsiding for the most part to give way to resignation.] Whatever you think about me, I would -- I have gone to the ends of the universe for you. Maybe you're thinking of

["Like Roxas"? That just furthers her suspicions on this Ven being a different Ven. Something in her still snarls protectively at the idea that Vanitas has been hurting him -- she'll destroy him if he ever comes to this tower -- but this isn't her Ventus.
