(Part 1)

"Richard.... yoohoo" Karen said running her fingers in front of his face. "Did you see that?" he asked her, looking dazed. "See what?" Karen asked looking in his direction. She turned to come face to face with a creature. At first look it reminded her of Slenderman. But she had spent enough time playing the games to know this wasn't it. She gasped as she realized it had eyes. Rather human looking eyes. "Stay calm" Richard warned her. "What is it?" Karen asked, gulping. It did nothing but stare at the two. Richard took her hand in his. "On three, we start walking backwards slowly. If it chases us, we'll run into the sea and yell for Steve" Richard decided. Karen nodded.

"Hey guys, look what I found!" Steve yelled. Karen and Richard turned around, momentarily distracted. "What?" they asked in unison, blinking. Steve frowned at them holding hands and that's when they realized they indeed were holding hands. They moved away awkwardly, following to where Steve had been pointing to earlier. "Well, there is a huge collection of statues by the shoreline, like that mysterious Easter Island shit" he told them excitedly. "What?" Richard asked surprised. "Yeah, come see" Steve called them over.

The sands gave way to rocks jutting out sharply at points. "Ouch! These are sharp" Karen exclaimed when she cut herself by the edge of one. "You should cover that wound" Richard advised. She nodded and stopped to put on a bandage. "How much further is it?" richard asked, following Steve slowly while still keeping an eye on Karen. "Just beyond these rocks. Where's Karen?" Steve asked in reply. "Putting on band-aids" Richard told him. "She cut herself? I swear that girl is clumsy" Steve said, rolling his eyes. Richard chuckled.

"We're here" Steve announced proudly. "Take a look. Amazing isn't it?" he asked Richard with a grin. "How did they get there?" Richard asked, his eyes widening. The statues were placed strategically amongst the rocks jutting out, as if they were ensnared by tendrils of stone. "I don't know. But this looks fucking cool. We should click a few photos" Steve suggested. "How? the ground here is too slippery to change angles" Richard noted. "Let's give it a shot. I got a new 13 mega pixel camera on my phone. I'm not going to waste a photo opp" Steve boasted. "Besides, these photos can be things we look back on and laugh about how scared we were to come here but we stayed anyways" he continued.

Steve put a foot ahead. Making sure he had balance, he took out his phone and adjusted the settings of his camera. He had the perfect view. the lighting was a little off and his flash couldn't fix it but that was okay. He was about to click the camera button when both the men heard a scream. "Karen!" they yelled simultaneously exchanging a look of fear and worry. "Come on" Richard yelled, pulling Steve along as they tried to find their way back safely amongst the rocks. The salty water made the footing slippery and Steve nearly slipped and fell into the sea.

"Fuck" Richard swore. Karen stood on the last rock towards where he had left her. Facing her was a creature that was abnormally long. It has a cylindrical head with eyes bored into two symmetrical cavities. Richard almost thought it was Slenderman, but Slenderman wasn't real. This monster clearly was.

In the distance he could see Karen trembling. "Karen!" Steve yelled out. "Don't provoke it into doing something!" Richard warned in a whisper. But then, Karen had turned around. She saw Richard and Steve staring at her. "You guys went so far ahead without me!" she protested, moving up front. "What?" Steve asked, looking at her making her way to them in disbelief. "Karen, don't move!" Richard told her. He dared to take a step ahead, keeping an eye on the creature. "What happened?" she asked, stopping with a frown. She turned around and saw the creature, screaming again.

"Karen run!!!" Steve yelled. He rushed forward to meet her half way, passing by Richard in the process. Karen stumbled and fell against a rock but luckily Steve reached in time to help her. Richard swore under his breath and turned around to find...

What was he looking for?

They should really get a move on. They were wasting daylight.
