Summary: Nino is a prince and heir to the throne. His father (who has never cared for him) remarries and he is left with a new 'brother'. Stcuk with a family that doesn't like him, his only friend is a certain green squirrel. One day a stranger saves Nino from drowning and Nino falls for him. But it seems his new 'brother' doesn't want Nino to get him. Worse yet, Nino's father has some more surprises for him.
A/N: Hello everyone!!! I'm soooo sorry I am barely updating now T_T. I got busy with school and when I found time to write, I had writer's block. Sadness right? But I got into a writing coma over this break. The story is finished. I'm debating about whether or not to write an epilogue. Anyway on a happier note, we finally have a banner. CHAPTER 10
“Oh-chan?”
The hooded figure pulled down his hood and Ohno’s face was revealed. Nino wanted to cry, to scream, to dance. He wanted to do so much and he felt so many emotions swell up inside of him. He moved to embrace Ohno but Ohno stepped back. Dread began to creep up within in.
“Ohno-kun?”
Ohno’s eyes met Nino’s and Nino could see coldness in his usually warm and sleepy eyes. Nino gulped, closing his eyes and bracing himself for the worst. A warm hand wrapped itself around his wrist and pulled. Nino looked down and saw Ohno’s hand pulling him towards the window. Nino pulled his hand away.
“Would you say something?!” Nino exclaimed, close to tears. Ohno turned to face him.
“There’s no time. We need to get out of your kingdom before the sun rises.”
“We haven’t seen each other in months and this is all you can say and do?”, Nino exclaimed.
Ohno looked agitated and frustrated. Nino flinched.
“Do you honestly think we have time for this? I’m risking my life coming here to get you. I could be arrested for being in the kingdom and I could be killed for being with you. I’ve worked too hard to have it all ruined. We can talk later. For now we need to get out of here, unless you would rather go and marry some random prince.”
Nino stayed quiet and felt ashamed. He was so happy to see Ohno that he forgot about the situation they were in. Tears streamed down his face as he wrapped his hand around his necklace. Suddenly, he felt a warm hand on his cheek, wiping away the tears. Nino looked at Ohno’s face and found the familiar warm eyes he had always seen. Ohno leaned in and gave him a brief kiss.
“Nino, we need to leave now.”
Nino nodded and followed Ohno to the windowsill. His eyes wandered to the small house as he walked by it. He looked inside to call for Aiba and Sho, but they were nowhere to be found. In fact, the house was void of anything.
"They're gone", Ohno informed Nino.
"Where to?"
"Somewhere safe. Now let's go."
Ohno adjusted the sword on his belt and turned his back to Nino, and kneeling down on one knee.
"Get on."
Nino stood still. 'What exactly was Ohno thinking?!' Ohno turned his head to him.
"Trust me, please", Ohno pleaded.
That snapped Nino out of his thoughts; Nino walked over and put his arms around Ohno's neck and thighs around Ohno’s waist. Ohno grabbed his thighs; Nino blushed at the action, and Ohno stood back up.
"Now cross your legs across my waist. I won't be able to hold onto you."
Nino frowned again. What exactly was Ohno going to do? Then he saw Ohno leaning over the window and the rope that was tied to it. Nino shut his eyes tight and crossed his legs around Ohno's waist. Ohno got near the ledge and paused once he was near it, reaching for Nino's hand and squeezing it.
"Please hold on tight and don't let go", Ohno whispered. Nino nodded and when Ohno felt it, he kissed one of Nino's hands and started to climb down the side of the castle. Nino put his face in between Ohno's neck and shoulder, shutting his eyes.
When they were finally on the ground, Nino still didn't let go of Ohno. He couldn't because it felt like a dream that Ohno was actually here with him. Ohno seemed to sense this and squeezed one of Nino’s hands.
“Can you ride a horse?” Ohno asked.
“Not really.”
Ohno nodded and then led Nino to a hidden area where two horses were. He untied one of them and pulled it behind him.
“Jun.” Ohno whispered.
Jun appeared in front of them in his human form.
“Take her back to my place. I will ride with Nino.”
Jun nodded and swiftly mounted the horse and began galloping away. Nino was pulled towards the horse and then lifted up onto it. Ohno got on behind him and held onto Nino one hand around his waist and the reigns in the other. Nino flushed at being so close to Ohno. As they began galloping, Nino held on tighter to Ohno’s arm. They seemed to speed up, not stopping until they reached the empty clearing Ohno was usually in. Nino noticed two other people on horses in the clearing and tensed up.
“Relax. They’re my friends”, Ohno murmured in Nino’s ear. When they got closer, the two other figures waved them over.
“Tegoshi, Toma, thanks again for helping us. We’re going to go ahead”, the two figures both nodded.
“We’ll stay a bit behind for a little while to make sure you aren’t followed. Be careful Ohno-kun and hurry. Time is running out”, Tegoshi said.
“So this is the infamous prince we’ve heard so much about. He’s cute, Ohno-kun”, Toma teased while checking Nino out.
Nino flushed and pressed himself into Ohno. Ohno laughed and kissed him on the cheek.
“He is and he’s mine, so eyes off Toma. We’ll see you two in a bit.”
Ohno steered the horse to a hidden path and they began riding once again.
Nino was silent as they rode through the forest. A lot was on his mind. They made camp after traveling through the night and day before continuing with their ride the next day.
“You’re not going to ask me anything anymore?”, Ohno said breaking the silence.
Nino broke out of his train of thought and turned to look at Ohno.
“I don’t know where to start. There are so many things I would like to ask at once… ”
Ohno nodded. “Well we have some time. Just start with the first one that comes to mind and we can work our way down the list.”
“Where are we going?”
“To the place I’ve been living in while I was exiled. It’s my hometown and my childhood friends are helping me out.”
“Why did you stop writing me?”
“I was planning for this. I had to get you away from there or else you would be married to some random prince. I needed to fully concentrate on this but I had Jun checking on you.”
“I see... what will we do now? My father and Chinen won’t let this go.”
“Don’t worry, I have it all figured out. Trust me”, Ohno said confidently.
“How much longer until we get there?”
“We’re almost there. It’s two days ride and we’ve been riding for a day and a half.”
Nino nodded and settled back into leaning against Ohno. They stopped by a river to eat. After they were done, Nino walked over to Ohno who was cleaning the dishes they used in the river. Nino couldn’t take it anymore. He just missed Ohno so much. He hugged him from behind and buried his face into his neck.
“Nino…”
“Please let me hold you like this for a bit. I know we need to keep moving but I really did miss you Oh-chan.”
Ohno swallowed loudly. He turned in Nino’s arms and faced Nino, hugging Nino back.
“I miss you too Nino. You don’t know how much.”
Ohno moved his hands up to cup Nino’s face as he leaned in. Nino was in heaven. He was kissing Ohno again. It seemed like Ohno had been holding himself back before because he was kissing Nino with so much passion and need. They pulled back for air, resting their foreheads against each other. Ohno leaned in again and just as he was about to kiss Nino again, he pulled away. Nino frowned but before he could ask why Ohno stopped, Ohno was pushing him toward the horse.
“Hurry and get on the horse Nino!”
Confused, Nino got onto the horse, soon understanding why Ohno was so panicked. He could hear the galloping of horse, lots of horses. Ohno jumped onto the horse as well and they started back on the path. But horses and guards soon surrounded them; the color and flag were yellow, indicating that they were from Nino’s kingdom. Nino started panicking. He didn’t want to go back. He didn’t want to be separated from Ohno again.
“Release the prince at once!” said the captain.
“If you want him, you’ll have to go through me”, Ohno replied.
“We have orders to kill you if you are not compliant”, the captain informed him.
Ohno remained silent. Soon, the galloping of more horses was heard.
“Halt right there! What is going on here? You have no jurisdiction here”, a guard in purple said as soon as he got to the scene. Guards from the purple kingdom joined them all.
The captain from Nino’s kingdom turned to the guard.
“We are here to get out prince back. All the kingdoms have been told about this.”
“We shall see. You are to come back with us and let our king verify your story and also to verify that one of those two is your prince. You two guards take the two on the horse in the middle to the castle. The rest of you follow us to the castle”, the guard said.
Ohno followed the two guards on the horse.
“Who are they Oh-chan?”
“They are the knights from the kingdom I’m currently living in. I don’t know how this will end Nino. They may separate us when we get to the palace. But no matter what happens I will always be with you”, Ohno said while patting the necklace he had given Nino. “With this, I’ll always be with you.”
Nino nodded and put his hand over Ohno’s, continuing to hold it as they made their way to the castle.
