Summary: Nino is a prince and heir to the throne. His father (who has never cared for him) remarries and he is left with a new 'brother'. Stcuk with a family that doesn't like him, his only friend is a certain green squirrel. One day a stranger saves Nino from drowning and Nino falls for him. But it seems his new 'brother' doesn't want Nino to get him. Worse yet, Nino's father has some more surprises for him.

A/N: This is my first Arashi fanfic. Hope you guys like it. Please don't steal my story. thanks.

Nino hid behind the bush in the garden. He wanted to avoid that annoying demon. He hated his brother. Thankfully they weren’t really related. His father, the king, had remarried. His new step-mother came with a rather bothersome package. Not that his father cared. He never cared to begin with. Now he was stuck with more people who didn’t want him around.

“Ninomiya-san! Where are you?!”

Nino sighed. He wished he could get away from here. He couldn’t leave because he was the heir to the throne…at least for now. His father still wanted a blood heir, but his new step-mom might convince him otherwise. Nino hoped she would, that way he could go wherever he wanted. Somewhere he was loved and wanted. A flash of green crossed his line of vision.

“Very danger!” cried the green squrriel, while peeking behind Nino observing the other prince.

“Aiba-chan shh. We don’t want him to find us.”

The squirrel nodded. Nino was relieved he understood. Aiba-chan was normally very energetic and it would cause his ‘brother’ to notice where he was. His ‘brother’ left the garden and Nino took his chance. He fled across the lawn and jumped the wall. There he was no longer in the palace.

“Shall we go exploring again?”

“Hai! I want to see what other food I can experiment with.” Came the high pitched reply.

Nino laughed. He walked through the woods and came near a tree that had truffles.

“Nino-chan I want to try those!”

“Do squirrels eat truffles?”

“No…but I will!”

Nino placed Aiba on the floor and heard the sound of water. He looked over the small cliff and found a lake with a waterfall. He grew excited.

“Aiba-chan. I’m going to look at the lake.”

He received no reply, except for a gag. Nino laughed. Aiba was always trying new foods but he never seemed to like any of them.

“You should try the tree sap next Aiba-chan!”

He chuckled wickedly. He wondered if Aiba would actually try it. He walked down the side of the cliff and approached part of the lake. The water looked so pretty. He walked towards the waterfall. The water was spraying everywhere, creating small rainbows. ‘Just like magic’ he thought. There was a loud bang and it scared Nino. He fell into the water. Nino came up to the surface choking.

“Help!”

He couldn’t swim. He tried to keep himself up but the water falling from the falls was too powerful. He panicked. Was he going to die like this? What a sad life but the ending would be just as sad. He tried kicking and moving but it didn’t help much. He gasped for one last breath and he fell under again. The water was cold. Nino hugged himself. He wanted to cry. Then he felt warmth surround him. ‘At least I won’t die in the cold’. He felt himself reach the surface. He was being pulled along. He couldn’t really see what was going on because he was half-conscience. He felt the ground underneath him and then someone was shaking him.

“Are you alright?! Hey wake up!”

Nino started choking up water. He felt the person help him sit up and pat his back as he emptied the water out of his body. He was panting hard.

“Are you hurt anywhere?”

Nino shook his head and turned to look at his rescuer. He was tan with olden-brown hair. He looked to be about the same height as him. He was wearing a blue woolen-hooded cape and some semi-ratty looking clothes. Clothes aside, he was very attractive. He was looking at him with concerned eyes.

“Are you sure?” Nino finally found his voice.

“Yes.”

His rescuer looked relieved.

“That’s great.” His smile was breath taking.

“What’s your name?”

Nino came out of his dreamworld. He wondered if he should give his real name. Everyone in the kingdom knew him as Ninomiya. He didn’t want to scare off this person just because he was royalty. By the looks of how he was dressed, he would be intimidated to be around someone from that much of a higher class. He had to give him an answer. Only Aiba ever called him by Nino though so maybe…

“er Nino.”

“Nice to meet you Nino. I’m Ohno. I’m glad I was able to get to you in time. I saw you fall from where I was on the cliff. You don’t know how to swim?”

“No I never learned.”

“Well try not to get near water too much until you learn.” Ohno laughed. Nino gave a bitter smile.

“I doubt I will ever learn.” Ohno frowned.

“Why not?” Nino shook his head. H didn’t want to talk about it so he changed the subject.

“Where did you learn how to swim? You seem very good at it.”

“I love the ocean and I like to fish. You kind of need to know how to swim if you will be doing that. I’ve been swimming almost all my life.” Ohno smiled.

“Wow. You’re so passionate about it.”

“You don’t have anything you’re passionate about?”

“…Yes…but it doesn’t matter.”

“Why not?”

Nino really didn’t want to talk about his family issues. He didn’t want to be pitied or to leave a bad impression on Ohno. It seems Ohno noticed that Nino was reluctant and changed the subject.

“Can I give you a ride to town?”

Before Nino could answer a green ball flew at his face. Ohno, surprised, moved back. Nino grabbed the ball on his face and pulled it off. It was Aiba.

“Nino-chan thank goodness you’re okay. I was so worried!!” Nino pet Aiba in order to calm him down.
“I’m okay. Ohno-san saved me.”

Aiba turned to look at Ohno. Ohno waved and Aiba moved over to him.
“Aiba-chan don’t!”

Aiba was giving Ohno a squirrel hug. Nino was glad he didn’t do anything weird. Aiba didn’t normally like the people at the palace. He wasn’t sure how Aiba would react to Ohno.

“You have a pet squirrel?”

“You could say that. He’s more like my best friend if anything.”

Ohno nodded looking pensive. Then Aiba jumped off of Ohno and back to Nino jumping on his leg.

“Nino-chan we need to get back.”

The squirrel looked nervous. Nino looked towards the sky. The sun was almost about to set. He cursed. Ohno looked confused.

“Do you need a ride?”

“Thank you but no. I need to go. Gomen.”

Nino didn’t want to risk reveling he was a prince and he definitely didn’t want to risk his family finding out about Ohno. They took everything that made him happy away. Maybe they could be friends if he was good about keeping Ohno a secret. Ohno looked like he wanted to argue but Nino got up and started running towards the woods.

“Thank you for saving me!” He yelled behind him.

Nino ran through the woods and jumped the wall. He was safe. He walked past the garden and into the palace. The halls looked empty so maybe he would get lucky and not have to face his family. He was walking down the hall where his room was located when a figure came into view. The person was waiting for him. The figure turned toward him.

“Ninomiya-san! Good evening, where have you been?” Nino glared at his ‘brother’.

“Hello Chinen. Can I help you with something?”

A/N: So that's the first chapter. Hope it sounds interesting!. Comment please. feedback? Should I continue?
