Remember how the old group talked about getting together? Well, I am free this weekend and by Spring Break starts on March 3 and lasts a week. So yeah... possible dates and such...
So, I failed to mention before, but on the trip back from D.C. I had a lovely time writing kanji all over Caitlin's hands and arms in permanent marker. Not only that, but in the discussion of my inner vampire and my inner child we came up with the best T-Shirt quote (which I will be making into a reality shortly). "My inner vampire is sucking on my inner child." Doesn't this describe the crazy randomness that is me so very well?? Because I really do have an inner child and an inner vampire. And occasionally the vampire gets a little hungry. Unfortunately, this distraction results in my being a little crazy. It's almost as cool as the Wufei aliens, ne?
Ethnic and Political Conflicts in Asia needs to have more interesting readings. She makes it sound all cool and interesting in class and then I feel excited and then I read the next reading and I feel like napping. Come on people, political science can be much cooler if written interestingly. We know you have a Ph.D. You do not have to use ridiculously large words to express a simple idea. Please.
Professor Katzman really has me realizing all the ethics involved in art restoration. Just like at the National Gallery they have a sketch of Raphael's Madonna with the Gold Finch (at least I think it was that one, he has painted so many Madonnas it is hard to remember the titles of each one) where they had to replace one of the corners. This was an empty corner with no art in it, but the people who restored it still made it subtly obvious that it was paper replaced and is not the original paper. I really didn't have a clue that details this minute were still concidered an ethical issue. Weird... and interesting....
Please read the translation of a Japanese song I have been working on. It sucks, but I tried.
I love you waywardstarfor pointing this interview out to me. Seriously. Best wife eva!! Why? Because this interview (translated by atrandum, whom I totally love and thank and steal these quotes from) makes me squee with silly fangirl love for Gackt.
17 Feb. 2006 Interview:
"Humans are very low when it comes to that [sex]. Nowadays, people don't search for love; they search for sex. They use sex as a way of restraining someone. The more you do it, the less worth there is. A woman who sleep with someone just because she likes him a little, I think...is so not interesting at all. There is no worth in her. No matter how many love experiences they go through, that type of people will never grow up. Teenagers like to think that if they have sex, they'll be an adult. That type of thinking is completely wrong. The same goes with men. If he only runs after sex, he will never grow up and will never know the true worth of love."
I love you a thousand times Gackt for pointing out that teens are totally stupid in thinking that sex makes you an adult. Really... sex doesn't make you any more of an adult than drining or smoking. Totally and completely stupid. Really realy really stupid.
Also the fact the he is repelled by sluts makes me smile inside.
Overall, a really great comment on modern times.
"There are men who like to flirt with women; if they see someone they like then they just have to flirt. But...a man who cannot flirt with a woman means that he wants to love her. He likes flirting as though it is a game. It's fun; it's exciting; he wants to know if women will fall for him. It's a way of checking how much charm you have. I used to feel that way. I would automatically start flirting when I meet a woman I like. The result is me waking up the next morning with her by my side in my bed *laughs* But...now that I've thought about it, people who see love as a game haven't grown that much. I understand that well now."
I just thought this quote was cool because I hadn't thought of it this way before.
Now a random quote from Jihaku that I find damn funny (from the translation at CoolLikePlastic):
"That smile is a sin. Since I first met him, I have thought that it would be great if Hyde was a girl. But dammit, he's a man!"
And yet, still with the slashing. Really. Hyde is married with children. Give him peace.
Shut up waywardstar I know what you are thinking so shut up... but I love you anyway...
Here's the rough translation I have been working on. This is one of his more lovey-dovey songs and is thus easier for me to translate. Fun to sing along to. I am sure you will tear it to itty-bitty bits and make me cry like a baby but
keep in mind I have yet to check it with Kasumi. I have also have yet to check it with myself. But I feel like posting it anyway. So don't make me cry waywardstar
All the Love There Is
If I close my eyes,
Searching for your warmth
Left next to me
Memories only tell of loneliness
Moments flow and quickly the season changes but,
Just the thought of that day and I continue to wait
Again, a matter of meeting by chance
I want to wrap you in all the love there is
As if sorrow has not visited twice
I want to protect you
I can’t even say “good-bye”
From when did we separate?*
Each time I find a figure similar to yours**
Even now I feel a pain in my chest
Moments flow and you and I become adults
Laughing at the feeling of that day together
Such a day approaches
I want to wrap you in all the love there is
As if sorrow has not visited twice
I want to protect you
I want to wrap you in all the love there is
As if sorrow has not visited twice
I want to protect you
I want to protect you…
*not sure of the this line
** not sure of this line because it sounds strange in English so I did a VERY loose translation
