The site is finally working, although it's a bit slow. I did not
find out what the problem with the redirect is, but the clean up is
done, so now I can ask the guys at SurpassHosting to take a look at the
problem.
There is still a bit to be done at the blog to get it up to date,
but it's basically just organizing and polishing the look of the
previous posts. Once it is done I will start updating more often. There
is quite a bit to upload.
Now I only have to see why it's working so slow. Updating posts as
well as loading the site takes a while. So another ticket goes to
Surpass.
It might look like I'm not happy with the host, but actually for the
most part I am. They give good tech support, and my sites running
eFiction (
Fanfic-zone.net, and I host
Potions and Snitches.net)
have not had any problems contrary to the ones I had with the previous
host (IMHosted). They were not bad, but they could not deal with the
number of accesses to the database.
The problem I'm having is
that Surpass is not that great with WordPress, but it works, and
frankly WordPress is the blogging software that I found best to work
with. They have changed a lot since I first tried them over a year ago.
I did not like it then, posting my thing written in word was not easy.
But now it's just a simple copy/paste. I also liked the idea of using
blogging clients to post since I plan to post to my WordPress blogs but
also to LiveJournal. I have yet to get this working, although the first
test I did worked. I hope the next version, 2.7, lets me use either
ScribeFire, or Deepest Sender. That would surely make blogging often
easier.
