Take 2

We went back to Shakespeare in the Park tonight and saw the rest of The Scarlet Pimpernel! With Susan this time. It was good fun! But Percy was almost unrecognizable without his Giant Hair. I think Loud Baroque, low-flying Fireflies, home made brownies, and a cool summer evening in the park may combine for one of the finest experiences on this earth. I can't wait to go again.

Fortunately for me, up next is A Midsummer Night's Dream - my very favorite of the Shakespeare canon. I memorized Puck's Monologue when I was 2! The very best production I ever saw or will ever see was when the All-Indian octolingual production came through. More recently BalletMet did it, and with the funniest lovers I have ever seen. Shakespeare in the Park, starting next week, is going to do it with muppets! Well, not entirely. Last year when they did As You Like It, about a third of the cast was life-sized puppets (which turned a duet into a trio in a very awesome way). They're going to do the same thing with Midsummer's. Looking through who's in the actor's bio bit, I've been able to deduce at least that Flute must be a puppet - which will make for a very interesting Pyramus and Thisbe. We may go multiple times.

Ah, and I think that Littlefinger Chauvelin was played by the same guy who did such an excellent job as Don John last year. (He totally looks - and acts - like Littlefinger, I'm not even kidding). He's just fantastic.

I wanted to list some of the fun t-shirts I saw at Origins - mainly because most of what I went for was looking at fun t-shirts.

* "I [Companion Cube] Portal"
* [looks like a breakfast cereal ad] "WHEATLEYS! Building strong test subjects"
* [Sad-looking Storm-trooper] "I lost someone on the Death Star"
* [Sad-looking Storm-trooper] "REGRET"// "Those were the droids I was looking for."
* [A Dalek and a Cyberman posed to resemble R2-D2 and C-3PO respectively]
* [Stylized black-and-white faces of all eleven Doctors]
* Ven Diagram:

--- Spaceships ^ Time Trave: Star Trek
--- Time Travel ^ Killer Robots ^ Space Ships: [TARDIS]
* Button: "Hi, I'm Sexy!" (I so totally almost bought this)
* [smiling cactus] "Hugs?"

The "regret" one and the cactus one were probably my favorites.

The only problem with the complete and utter awesomeness of watching "The Caves of Androzani" is that tonight we're going to have to watch "The Twin Dilemma." Last time I tried I couldn't get through it :/ And Joel-Henry's going to hate it, and I'm going to hate it... :/ Did this make my list of my bottom ten episodes? I forget. *sigh*. It's possible the Sixth Doctor's histrionics will appeal to Joel-Henry (they certainly appeal to me, generally speaking). It is not encouraging, though, that his first words upon finishing up the last episode were "I don't like him." Wish me luck. As much as I hate this, I love "Attack of the Cybermen" (a sentiment I am probably alone in) so at least there are good things to look forward to!
