The Caves of Androzani

I am always finding new ways to be impressed by this episode. This time it was camera angles. There's one bit in particular, in part 4 when he's fallen down the hill and lying spread-eagled and supine, and the camera is behind his head looking up towards his feet - it's incredible.

I also noticed that there's a sort of "boing" sound whenever anyone says or does anything directly foreshadowing the conclusion. It...actually reminded me quite a lot of the Passion. Also the thing they were doing in "Earthshock" periodically having a little Alzarius cadence go by in the BGM.

It also struck me that, despite things in comics like "I dislike sand", Peri is actually very pleasant in this episode. In the very beginning, she's quite gung-ho and enthusiastic. And she only has positive things to say about all the sand. (And for the rest of the episode she's dying, so...) It saddens me that we're not going to see her like this again. (Well, IIRC, "Trial of a Timelord" starts out like this, but by then it's too late).

I can't say enough how much I love this episode.

And Joel-Henry seems to have a favorite episode now. It's "Inferno" ! Who knew.

(He was very very disappointed that the execution in Part 1 was faked. He kept going on about how the Doctor had been shot with 31 bullets :P )
