Seriously, they've never been the good guys

We finished Portal 2 last night. Awesome. One of the best Chekhov's Guns I've ever seen. Several, in fact. Still working on the co-op campaign though. And vaguely wondering if there's Doctor Who crossover fic.

I managed to get unexpectedly sick Monday night. So I spent all of yesterday watching Doctor Who (and sleeping). I seem to be mostly better today - that is to say, still exuding phlegm in various unpleasant ways, but over the sheer misery aspects. Maybe the tuna melts helped! (with Avocado...they were delicious).

As part of my homeopathic remedy, I watched "The Green Death" yesterday (because "The Time Monster" wasn't available on Instant Play). I never stop being impressed by that episode. Probably some of the best acting in the entire series, particularly out of Jon Pertwee.

We're also currently watching "Arc of Infinity." I've been very proud of my ability to keep spoilers to a minimum. Joel-Henry was genuinely shocked when a certain character turned back up. Also, lets hear it for due process of law :/ It's not so much that the Doctor is innocent as that he hasn't actually been charged with anything. They just sort of up and decide to execute him. Actually, I was seriously amused - the opening scenes of the episode feature Shadowy Figure In A Stupid Hat, and Joel-Henry was like "What's this? But the Master is the only evil timelord we know!" ...haha, what? I can't wait until we get to the Big Reveal in Trial of a Timelord. No, not that one. No, not that one either. Okay, so there are a lot of Big Reveals in Trial of a Timelord. But yeah. The Timelords are not good guys. They have never been good guys. We only think they are because the Doctor still thinks they are. But he'll learn.

...oh yeah, and he asked after Leela. That was kind of sweet.

But okay, they keep talking about how they've only ever used Capital Punishment once before. (Leaving aside that it's a bit disingenuous calling this capital punishment when he's not actually being punished for anything, except, possibly, having been the victim of, ah-ha, identity theft). So - who was the other one? Omega was an accident, Salievan was imprisoned...the War Chief was shot before he could stand trial. The Master has never been caught (and anyway, he's far too still around to have been "terminated"). Morbius? I'm not recalling any Famous Timelord Villains. Of course, what would you have to do to be a villain by Timelord standards? (hah, experiment on the Lord President's cat).

Hah, also, Maxil totally has the right idea. "Hello, I'm the Doctor". *bang*. Yeah. And he has plumes in his helmet. Vimes would not approve. Also, I really hope Nyssa's staser was set to stun - I'd hate to think she just murdered two people.

I probably am going to put up with the ads to watch "The Time Monster" today, on the logic of "I'm sick, and can watch all the Doctor Who I want, darn it!"
