I could see elements of both Yamato and Koushiro at times throughout your application...and I think I'm leaning the most towards a Koushiro vote overall. He can sometimes seem contradictory or random depending on the situation ("I've been called easy-going + intense, reckless + planned, among other things." actually kind of fits from how I remember some of the story scenes with him going).
He can be blunt at times and argumentative, and will speak his mind if he feels strongly about something. He's also rather "self-made" in terms of his capabilities, and I could see him fitting the INTJ personality type with similar discrepancies (not the quietest introvert and he offers support to others through the use of practical advice too). I could see him fitting for The Investigator personality type as well in a lot of ways!
Hopelessly self-critical, secretive in terms of his personal life and occasionally with plans, devious, obstinate, overly-curious, analytical, independent, calm-minded, clever, open-minded, curious, and humorous at times are all traits that Koushiro has. And I could see how others describe you also fitting for certain aspects of Koushiro's character (definitely the "intelligent, snarky, and abrasive." comment in particular)--and people's perceptions of him do seem to alter a bit depending on the character, so I imagine his first impressions could also be rather similar too.
Koushiro is still idealistic, but tends to be more realistic than others in the cast are. "Often in day-to-day actions, I'll consider all the possibilities, but still do something reckless when it comes to the short term." seems rather fitting for him too from what I remember, he can be more cynical at times than others in the cast, is more of a background leader, introverted, independent, persistent if he cares about something but otherwise laid-back, and he's confident when he knows he's good at something but modest in other areas.
I could see him perhaps wishing to be more calmer below the surface as well (since I know he at first had some doubts when he overheard his parents talking about how he was adopted once...but he never actually openly talks about it to others), he enjoys challenges to a degree...but doesn't really seem to like pointless fighting. I could picture him wanting to take place in the "world-altering battle" for similar reasoning, and given his role in the story and within the group...I could see him taking on an offensive and supportive role in a fight. :D
